Bifocals - anyone?

Featured Replies

Getting old is the pits:irked: I went for my eye exam the other day and I have to wear bifocals. I didn't think that would be too bad but it's horrible. I can't figure out where to focus my eyes when I look up and I don't know what the heck to do with my eyes when I look down. I have almost fallen a dozen times and I feel like I am sea sick most of the time.

Any suggestions on how to make these horrible glasses work:D

Just got mine about 8 months ago. It took me 2-3 weeks to get used to them. The trick is to tilt your head more and move your eyes less up/down. I got bad headaches the first few weeks. Now, I don't have any problems with them and can read much better. A little difficult to watch TV laying down. Have to adjust my head and my glasses.

:D

It seemed like the day that I turned 40 my eyesight went downhill. I'm not a vain person but when my eye doc suggested bifocals I said "Lets wait on those". The next weekend I went to a concert (Elton John). We had great seats just a couple of rows from the floor, close to the stage...when we got ready to leave I missed a couple of steps and fell. It was an eye opening experience(no pun intended). Monday morning I called the eye doc and said, "Well, I think its time for the bifocals.":irked:

I've got the no line bifocals. It did take a little while to get use to them but now I don't even realize they are bifocal. Best advice is to keep wearing them. I don't have to wear them all the time just mainly when I drive but when I first started wearing them I did wear them all the time to get use to them. Good luck!

I hear you. Going down steps was the toughest part for me. I about broke my neck several times. Like MT said you have to move your head more instead of your eyes. Once you do get used to them you won't realize you're wearing them.

I had them only one day yesterday and I almost fell in three holes in the ground. I stepped off the porch wrong and going down a ramp I misjudged and almost took a tumble. MrRk and I were moving (well he was since I can't lift yet) some stuff and he ended up making me enjoy the swing for a while:D He said I was making him nervous - as usual:lol::lol: I know these will get better but they are driving me crazy. I won't take them off, except to sleep of course, because I know I have to wear them in order to get used to them.:irked::D

I have both... Hate wearing my glasses...only wear them to read. Used to be able to read BGP without the glasses...now I have to go get them..Had 2 implants and get the particals next Friday. My week is planned around Dr appointments....

I have had my no-lines about 10 years now and yes they are hard to get used to . You have to learn to move your head more to change your field of vision . Instead of just looking down when descending steps you have to lower your head to see properly ,otherwise OOPs .

I have them and yes they are hard to get use to. Besides the trouble going up and down steps, I also hate the way I feel like I really have to stare and focus on someone before I can figure out who they are.

I think it is time for me to get back to the eye doctor because my glasses are becoming more of a problem on than off.

I am supposed to have them, but, where I get my glasses was having a buy one get one free on glasses....so, what I did was get two pairs. I use the one pair when I am not readiing and the other pair when I am reading. I love it. You can use contacts this way....all you have to do is put on the reading glasses when needed. Just always make sure that you have your reading glasses with you at all times.

PH has no line and he does not have problems at all with them. He said the way I do it is dumb! LOL. I just did not want to do bi focals...this way is better for me!

I went today to get my driver's license in Indiana and I was so afraid that these new glasses would really screw me up because I had to take an eye exam. The eye exam was reading just one line across and I had no problem. Anyway, I passed the test and I am now an offical Hooiser driver. It broke my heart to hand over my Kentucky license - oh well life goes on.

I am having such a problem looking down. When I remember to move my head and not my eyes I don't have a big problem but when I move my eyes.....oh dear...it's get's scary!!!!!

I am going to take me and my new eyes out to the garage and work getting some of my stuff organized. I moved the rest of my stuff from Danville yesterday and I am having a blast going through all this stuff. I find some pictures and I have to stop and look through them all so I'm not getting a lot done:D but at least now I can actually see the pictures:lol:

Wait until you need trifocals then I can help you out!
