Was McKinney a Bracken guy? Have heard his name mentioned many times as being the reason(won-loss record, no respect from players, embarrassing) as why Bracken would never hire from within, they tried Rodney, but since then out of county. Anyone know?

Let's all keep in mind, Rule #2:

2. No disparaging, taunting, or boastful comments--especially between opponents trying to intimidate each other. This includes name calling or personal attacks toward any member, username, or school. Also, keeping in mind the youth of our student athletes, excessive "bashing" is prohibited in the high school forums. Do not comment on the manner in which another member has posted, or any violations you find in their posts. Such public remarks will be considered a violation under this rule. If you spot what you believe to be a violation that needs to be addressed, please use the "Report Bad Post" button, or send a message to a moderator.

This guy has not even wore the whistle and conducted the first workout with the kids at Bracken County and yet has already got the greatest obstacle to overcome and that is the negativity of some of the faithful in Brooksville. Its unbelievable and as I read the list of coaches that has walked the sidelines at Bracken County and the short amount of time they have spent on the sidelines as a leader, one would not have to look far as to find a reason why they don't hang around very long. Hopefully this coach will break the trend, but I am guessing that he won't be run out of town.

If he wins 12-15 games this season with the squad he has coming back he will be named 10th region coach of the year, Coach Fite would not have left if next years team had 15 wins in it, every game will be a struggle, whoever the opponent.[/QUOTe]

Time will tell. Coach Fite would of left if they would of won 20 games, When you have to drive 100 miles round trip to work not good for anyone. Just hated to see him leave.

I am not sure what everyone in Bracken County expects out of any coach. According to the winning percentages posted by AHSPanther23, there have only been two coaches with a winning percentage higher than 50% in 66 years. How many winning seasons has Bracken had in those 66 years.

They should have say in any thing but hiring coaches. I can deal with a bad principal or administrator but not a bad coach.:D

Are you serious. Can handle a bad administrator but not a bad coach. Has everyone lost their minds on what SCHOOLS are there for. I believe they are there for education, not just for sports.

Also,

Polar Bears have had 36 winning seasons in the last 66 years.

Only 1 in the last 8 years.

The record for the last 8 years has been 70-142.

I think Bracken County has had some pretty good coaches as of lately. Hammonds and Fite are pretty good coaches. Hammonds has had much success at West Jessamine now and Fite left for personal reasons.

I can't say those two hires were bad ones, IMO.

No. It was a joke, didn't you see the :D. I'm just getting a really big kick out of people bashing a coach before he even gets into town just because the person they wanted to get the job didn't get it.

Must really being doing some heavy research on Coach Breeze to take the time to look on WKU website to see if he has ever been paided WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!In all honesty has Bracken County had a great season here in the recent years????Has the middle school produced talent????????Give the man a chance who knows maybe he will come in and change things around to where they could be a contender to advance to the region. When was the last time that happened?????Not in the last couple of years!!!!!!!The school and site base must have thought he was qualified to give him the job but before we pass judgement on him at least give him a chance!!!!!!!!

I'll take a stab at answering one of your questions. Yes, the middle school produces talent. As a matter of fact, the middle school trains and sends competitive teams to the high school almost every single year. Please, don't put down the middle school programs which continue to have winning seasons year after year. Perhaps, the problem is at a higher level than the middle school. Maybe turnover rate plays a part in that up there.

A chance? Why, a chance is what our administration isn't willing to give to one of our own. Coach Persinger has had great success with the junior high and if I'm not mistaken, he was an assistant at the high school level at one time. Besides that, can you guess which varsity sports program has been the most successful for the past few years and looks like there's many more to come? FASTPITCH SOFTBALL-- Coach Persinger is also the coach of this program. And, while this is a boys basketball thread, mentioning softball is only to prove that this coach gives 110% to every sport he coaches. He puts his heart into it and his teams reap the benefits.

I'm not trying to run the new coach out the door. Believe me, if the past repeats itself then this is just a stepping stone; he'll be gone soon enough on his own accord. It seems like we've been down this road before.:thumb: (evidently we are slow learners at BC) Groundhog's Day marathon anyone?

While it's true that administration has the final say I think it's pretty pathetic that she chose to ignore the voices of her parent representatives. I guess this should send a message loud and clear.

Something sure is stinking in BC--dirty rotten politics.

Good Luck to Deron...glad to see he made his way back to the 10th region. I am pretty sure after he left Maysville, he spent a few years @ Cynthiana. His dad Tony was the basketball coach at HCMS for a while.
