July 12, 200818 yr I hate this situation for Packers fans. On one hand, there's a chance Favre comes back. On the other hand, there's a chance Favre is playing for a division rival. That stinks...
July 12, 200818 yr I've heard TB and Minnesota are his desired destinations...Sure, why not? He can join the other 20 quarterbacks reporting to camp this month. I feel bad for Rogers.
July 12, 200818 yr If he does get released, he will be wearing purple. Either the Ravens or Vikings. Seeing Favre in any other color than Packer green would be a sad day. He IS the Packers.
July 12, 200818 yr Favre needs to go to a team that is built to win now.The Packers just lost the NFC Championship in overtime. That tends to mean that they are pretty much built to win now in my book.
July 12, 200818 yr Umm I'm guessing you're a Louisville fan...Why trade Rodgers? He has studied the system learned their style and is ready to play. Brohm? I think not. Trade him if you're trading anyone. Favre has been a huge distraction to the Packers and if he does want to come back then he is making a mockery of their front office. He needs to just stay retired or stay in the league quit the whole I may retire I may not. So you don't argue that Farve gives them the best chance to win now? Aaron Rodgers has more trade value than Brohm, it is as simple as that. Farve may want to play for a few more years; let Brohm do the same thing Rodgers did. Farve has 3 years left on his current deal. He can play that out while Brohm learns the system. I actually think the Farve being a distraction thing is way over-played. The Packers now have 2 QBs in waiting. How much of a distraction is it? They have drafted well and the team has improved leaps and bounds over the last two seasons. The Pack go to the playoffs with Farve as a QB next year; the front office still wants to win and so do those fans. They will get over all of this quickly when Farve and the Pack go to the playoffs next season.

The Packers front office has stated that they are ready to move on. Favre "sincerely" stated that he was ready to walk away from the game and retire. Guess what he has changed his mind and I respect the Packers for not changing theirs. He just continues to mess with them and he is a big distraction and they don't need that. Yes he's a great QB and can lead them to the playoffs BUT who knows what Favre will be in GB, the Packers apparently have faith in Rodgers, what's wrong with that?

Who would you prefer- a 1st-round pick who has learned for 4 years under one of the greatest QB's ever (and who, in his one chance to play quality minutes, posted these stats- 18-26, 201 Passing Yards and a TD against the Cowboys)- or a 2nd-round, unproven and untrained (in terms of the NFL) player?

Aaron Rodgers has more trade value than Brian Brohm because he has been in the league for 4 years and Brohm is a rookie. Whatever the circumstances, you can't argue that: 1. Farve gives the Pack the best chance to win 2. If the Pack win, all of this will be forgotten The only way this is a distraction, IMO, is if you bring Farve back to the Pack AND keep Rodgers. You have to get rid of one of them. If the Pack want to win now, keep Farve and trade Rodgers.

They shouldn't have told him to make his decision when they did. If you're Brett Favre and you lose the NFC title game and you go after Moss and lose out on him it's going to be tough. They knew he would want to come back. Evenb though it would put them behind a little bit they should have given him until now to decide. It's their own fault.

Please.....It's their fault that Favre has retired and then came back for the last 2 or 3 seasons? I think not..He made the choice to hold the press conference and he is the one to say that he was retiring. It's not the Packers fault one bit. As a management team you have to line things up and get things in order. They needed to know what he wanted to do, if he was unsure about retiring then he should have just played.

Then have to hope that Favre stays for at least a couple more seasons so Brohm can learn the offense and players? I don't think that'll happen. Rodgers has patiently waited and is ready to play. You don't trade off your future QB for one more season of another QB. Doesn't make any sense.

Rodgers has patiently waited and is ready to play. You don't trade off your future QB for one more season of another QB. Doesn't make any sense. What doesn't make sense is telling your starting QB that took you to the NFC Title Game last year and is coming off of a Pro-Bowl season that we don't want you back because we want to go with a guy that has never palyed. Farve obviously wants to play for at least one more season. I would play him. If he stays for the duration of his contract, Brohm ends up in the same place in his career as Rodgers, waiting for a few years and then taking over. Even if Farve stays one year, the prospects for the Pack in that one year is worth the risk. They could be a Superbowl team with him. Without him, who knows? Bringing Farve back to start for GB makes perfect sense. Trading him to start Rodgers makes no sense. What has Rodgers done that shows you that he is worth letting Farve go? There is NO QUESTION what Farve can do, especially in that division with the parts that he would have around him.

Favre is great, no question. BUT he has said he wants to retire. Guess what he knew what kind of team he had in front of him when he wanted to retire, he didn't care about trying to win it this year. Management asked, and they moved on. What's wrong with that?

The point is to win. Farve will help you win, potentially at a Superbowl level. The Packers have no idea what they will get in a season from Rodgers. Superbowls don't come around often for a franchise. How long did it take GB to get back to this level? Now you have a window to do something special; why jeopardize that by going with the unproven QB? Why do they need to "put their foot down"? What has Farve done that is so unforgiveable that the Pack would say forget going for a championship, drop Farve and let's go for the unproven QB? Winning would cure all of the retirement flip flop stuff and Farve is BY FAR the best chance the Pack have to win at a high level next year.
