Wow, what a game tonight for the DS team. In front of about 60 college coaches, including Billy Donovan and Rick Barnes, Duke, Maryland, etc

the Ds team started out slow and was down 45-29 at half. After a "serious

discussion", the boys decided that maybe they could play a little better, of course they were playing against 6 high major recruits, and a projected one and done Thompson kid who some has as the #1 prospect in the class of 2010. The Ds team cut it to 58-54 before the Canadian team ran it back out to 13. It was an 11 point game when the DS team got a sense of "urgency".

Matt Clevenger hit a big three, Jon Bevins made some big shots, Richie Phares got hot, and Andy Donovan hit a big 3 to tie it with about 30 seconds to go. The Canadians went for one shot to win it but Phares knocked it loose and Evan Faulkner came up with it with 4.6 seconds to go under the Canadian basket. After a time out, he inbounded it to his brother who calmly went the lenght of the floor and put a three pointer in at the buzzer for his 5th game winner of the season. DS outscored the Canadians 52-33 in the second half after probally playing their worse half of the month in the first half. Very exciting game, but to tell you the truth, I'm not sure how we won and the Canadian coach couldn't tell you either, but they know who the Derek Smith All Stars are now:thumb:

Congrats to the DS all stars that was a huge win especially without Ferg.

Why is Ferg not playing? Great start to the tournament for DS and keep making Kentucky proud!

What about the DS ,16 and under boys?

DS 16's got beat by a team from Texas. Ferg is fine, but was unable to make the trip due to obligations at home. He will be missed. He was playing the best ball of his life in Morgantown!

Tough Loss today as the shots just weren't falling enough to overcome a pretty good Oaklahoma team that made it to the elite 8 in the Kingwood Classic. Both Faulkners and Leonard Macon had double figures for DS but it

usually takes 5 DS players in double figures to beat a good team.

Next up , St Louis Gateway who has a Griffey kid that has already signed with Illinois and was one of two high school players chosen for a US international team this summer.

I notice the DS16 won in Vegas today in a close one. Clint Stepp was high point man with 26.

DS was up by 12 . Went cold, got down about 6 and trailed the last 6 minutes until the Franklin County boys hit some big shots. Andy Donovan

hit a big 3 to get us close, then Barrett Meyer hit a deep three at the buzzer to send it into overtime as the St Louis team was trying to foul us. In overtime, Leonard Macon hit some big free throws and once again, Mr. Clutch

In an interesting matchup, Scott County's Richie Phares and Andy Donovan did a great job against Tyler Griffey , who was offered early by Kentucky and committed to Illinois. They held Griffey to 14 points but he worked hard on every one of them and Richie answered most of them.

Shooter--Thanks for the updates. I sure wish FERG was there bombing in those long treys. Sounds like the twins (Faulkners) are playing great and so is the team. Ethan with FIVE game winners this year is something else. I have been telling people all year long that he is the BEST POINT GUARD IN THE STATE. I don't know what more he needs to do to prove it. I guess go to the State Tournament for a third straight year and win four games in RUPP next March which is not a long shot.

 

I keep beating an old drum, but the Elliott trio of FERG and the Faulkner twins have showed everybody around the country that they can excel with the best players. They have arrived on the NATIONAL SCENE. This trio from Sandy Hook and Isonville will put their little towns on everyone's map next year around the state of Kentucky. They have already broken all kinds of Elliott records and will set new ones and shatter old ones next year. Their will be a constant buzz around little ole Sandy Hook next season. Population 730 SALUTE!!!! HOOSIERS 2 in the making!!! And as Don King would say, ONLY IN AMERICA, BABY!!!
