PurpleHaze
Wow...it just does not seem like that long ago. It really seems as though it were yesterday. My goodness. Time really does go by as you get older. Anyway, Congrats to everyone who has kicked the habit!!! I am proud and envious of you all!!!!
oldrambler
^ Mrs. PH, if you smoke and are wanting to quit....first of all I hope that you do. Second thing... All I have to say is the Nicotine patches and tootsie pops workd for me:D. This was my 2nd attempt at quittng, I tried one other time quite a few years ago and ended up going back after a few months.......stupid move. I have made it this time though, I will admit that at times I still get cravings for them but in just a couple of minutes I have forgotten it. Those cravings are a lot fewer and further between now. Birdsfan
Thanks, you guys. But, I have to be honest. I've slipped a few or more times over the years."Slipping" is a lot different than being a regular. I would assume it will always be something of a battle. pnthr4life
I'm on day 2 of being smoke free. If my future posts happen to get me suspended for a brief period you'll know why.
pnthr4life
And I'd also like to congratulate RM and all the others that have given up the cigs.
Hasbeen
I'm on day 2 of being smoke free. If my future posts happen to get me suspended for a brief period you'll know why. Absolutely understandable. One of the things that keep me on the right track is that I don't want to have to repeat that first week! Good luck. I'm on my tenth month right now and I don't think I'll ever be "right" again.

The Professor
When I quit smoking, cigarettes cost 25 cents per pack. So it's been a long time for me. Congrats to you RM.:thumb:
Hasbeen
Thanks, you guys. But, I have to be honest. I've slipped a few or more times over the years. Really? If you do, do you have to start all over again? Does one cigarette reactivate the addiction and the cravings become as they were in the beginning? Can you tell I miss smoking? I wish I had never become a smoker so that now I could have one cigarette a day, preferably in the evening while relaxing at the end of the day. Or a cigar. Would a cigar be the same as smoking a cigarette? Would that trigger a return to smoking? I'm afraid to try any the above for fear of falling off the wagon so to speak. Maybe I should take up drinking. I dont drink but I don't have any moral objections to drinking in moderation. I mostly just don't like the taste, especially beer. What about a pipe? Does anyone who has stopped smoking enjoy an occasional pipe? Can you tell I have trouble relaxing since I stopped smoking?

The last few months have been really difficult for me, as I'm doing two jobs at work right now. 18 hour days get to me and I'm known to sneak out back to keep my sanity. :creepy: I have asked the same questions as you. I thought about drinking, but, the after effects are much worse, taken on a daily basis. Plus, I like wine. I have one glass, and I'm asleep. On the bright side, that leaves less time to want to smoke! I'm often amused by "non-smokers" who enjoy a cigar.
