Only reason is that Brandon has been killing the ball and the Nationals the whole weekend.

He's going to hit the ball to the right side, so you have no chance at holding the runner at 2nd. And you can't put the shift on when the winning run is on 2nd... Also, Phillips is a "free swinger" (aka he's anxious at the plate) and has a tendency to ground into double plays. You have to walk Griffey & take your chances with whoever else. Now if you want to talk about walking Brandon Phillips, then I'm with you. That you could argue.

July 6, 200818 yr I went to the ballgame tonight (third of the year) and was a lil upset when I saw Fogg was pitching tonight because he hasn't been to great, but he definitely proved me wrong. He did very well. Bruce and Griffey both had great catches in the outfield. Good game...and great crowd 37,000+

Good game...and great crowd 37,000+ I'm convinced the Reds could activate 51 year old Mario Soto and he could probably pitch 6 strong innings against the Washington Reds. You give Fogg credit for stepping up when the Reds needed him, but he has no business being in the rotation. I just hope they recall Thompson next week when they need a 5th starter. Fogg won't be around after this year, might as well let the young guys show us what they have.

Fogg won't be around after this year, might as well let the young guys show us what they have. I think Fogg will be a very solid number 5 guy the rest of this year. He'll keep the Reds in games.

July 6, 200818 yr He has plenty of business being the the rotation right now. And when Fogg goes out in his next start and only lasts 3 innings, will you say that then? He is awful and while Thompson struggled at times in his starts, I would rather find out if he has what it takes going into next year as opposed to watching Fogg get lit up again.
