Read the "Everything a Rookie" thread and it will answer, any questions.

So I am assuming that Nick Wilson is probably interviewing. He is the only late 90's player that I know that teaches at Bellevue. I think this would be a nice choice as far as getting a very loyal guy who wont be leaving anytime soon but his lack of experience may cost him some wins.

 

I just hope they get someone in there who can invest their time with the youth programs and build a better feeder system. Those kids in the grade schools need to be playing more competetive basketball at an earlier age if they want to compete at a high level.

 

That's who I have heard is the candidate according to the word on the streets of Bellevue. He seems like a good guy that is loyal to his school and the kinda guy that would do great things for the program. A buddy of mine told me that even though he doesn't have varsity basketball coaching experience that he is currently coaching football with Dave Eckstein and that he had some experience playing at Mount Saint Joe's...hopefully that will help! If he gets the job I wish him the best of luck and hope that his tenure there is longer than the previous 4 or 5 coaches combined

Is Nick the only candidate? What about Tommy Sorrell?

Names I've heard are Sanders, Sorrell, and Wilson.........not sure if more, or even if thats accurate, but those names keep popping up in B-town.

I have heard that Sorell is a candidate but that the principal and the new AD, would like to hire someone in the building. I know that basically leaves Wilson, but I think his inexperience might be an issue in hiring him.

Im not so sure you dont go with Inexperience and loyalty over resume here due to the fact that the job has been a stepping stone for many. You gotta start somewhere and in this case you gotta consider both Wilson and Sorrell. Tommy has been on the bench for the girls and last year as the Boys JV coach I believe so he should get an opportunity to interview even though he doesnt work in the building.

 

It would be a good opportunity for Nick as well. Its a tough call, I hope they get someone in there that will really work with building the program from grade school up though.

You would think they might want to get someone in place soon. Basketball season is only 75 or so days away from officially starting. I think the fact that those boys missed out on having a coach for summer ball is sad enough.
