I wonder if the bylaw means

 

#1 You can't simply leave a school and transfer to another one because of athletics, but if you have a legit reason for leaving you are free to go anywhere you want even if you go based partly on athletics

 

OR

 

#2 Even if you have a legit reason for leaving a school (like job loss) you can't pick your new school based on athletics.

 

IF it is #1 then he should be eligible if it is #2 then he is in trouble.

If it's #2 then I think it's a load of #2 and will be overturned in the impending suit that will most assuredly be filed.

Well, what can you say? There are those in the Ashland area that are still bitter and have hard feelings about Euton's older brother Arbaugh transferred to Ashland and took most of the limelight. Some feeling are hard to swallow. Some are able to rise above that.

 

For what it's worth, I think that they will overturn this ruling and we'll see young Euton in uniform for Scott Co. this season. I wish him the best considering he's a teenage young man who is very respectful, not to mention talented. I pray that I'm never bitter enough to have spite deep in my soul so as to clap to the heavens in hopes that a young man can't achieve his goals and dreams.

But again, now that certain powers that be have been eradicated from their posts over on Blazer blvd., perhaps there may eventually be some goodwill garnered across the hump that separates Rose Hill and Ashland. Well, that's assuming that we don't have to continue this repressive disdain towards one another ala the Euton saga that HOD is so tickled about.

Once again I thought you were a promoter and not a fighter. I must admit, that was a nice jab and upper cut.

I think this will get reversed, if the father lost his job, and they have a legitimate change of address, then he has every right to find the best possible fit for his son.

 

 

I completely agree. Whose rights are being violated here? Suppose a local resident who is a medical professional decides to accept an better offer for employment in Lexington? No layoffs, no job loss; just the opportunity to climb the ladder of success. He/she accepts the offer, sells the local home, buys a new home in the Lexington area, and bases that location/school district decision on what best suits his/her children. Eligible or ineligible?

 

What good parent wouldn't consider the many schools in that area and choose the one that is the best fit for their child before purchasing a home? I agree rules have to be followed, but exactly where does one draw the line on how much influence the KHSAA has on where one can choose to live?

I am, however, used to rabbit punches from the typical crowd that gathers at every turn to bash a young man. And in my humble opinion, that stems from the bitterness of years gone by.

Mr. Eutons statement to the press was secondary and the finding will be changed . It doesen't matter where he transfered to play ball if his father found a job in that area. He will be playing at Scott Co. this year. The KHSAA will look really bad by the time this one is over.

It was based on Mr. Euton's comments in the paper about taking a tour of the facility and all that junk. They will appeal and win the appeal based a lack of real substance.

 

Jackson's mom lived in Ashland with him but her husband lived in Lex and they were married. Since BOTH parents didn't change residence, that was the issue in question.

 

Shotwell's appeal was denied and was also ruled ineligible. Again, this had nothing to do with athletics but the family hadn't moved (couldnt sell their home) and couldn't afford the commute along with some academic problems.

What in the world are you talking about?

Maybe both players could play in W.Va. or Ohio. Would that make the KHSAA happy ? What a waste of time ! No court is going to rule against either player ! They will both play this year at Scott Co. IMO.

How many of you think, that since both Euton and Jackson, left "the same school" and then were going to attend "the same school", factored in the KHSAA ruling as they did.
