July 28, 200818 yr Author I don't see anyone beating that performance. It was one of the best I've ever seen. Which is exactly why I believe that he definitely is nominated and might possibly win something.
July 28, 200818 yr Like I said, we still have HALF A YEAR left to see movies...You guys are acting like the awards are tomorrow...If they were, then sure, give him an nomination or maybe give him the award but there's way to many movies that haven't came out yet to determine who the winner or nominees should even be. I think that many are wondering who has given a better performance in the movies so far this year. After all, you did say NO WAY, he deserves an Oscar for his performance. If not him (so far) then who? Just curious.
July 28, 200818 yr I feel like if Heath Ledger hadn't died, people wouldn't be giving all his Oscar hype. I'm not sure if he deserves it or not- I don't know enough about the Oscar's. I guess he deserves it, he did a great job. But without Ledger's death, I don't know if this is the type of role (a villain) that would even be considered for Oscar nomination

I guess he deserves it, he did a great job. But without Ledger's death, I don't know if this is the type of role (a villain) that would even be considered for Oscar nomination I remember specifically hearing on TV that he was so good that he would probably be nominated, .. and this was before he died. Christopher Nolan (director) stated well before his death that Heath should get a nomination for his performance it was so mesmerizing. But normally, you are right. This is not normally the type of role that gets one nominated. But I am not sure anyone ever did a villian so well.
July 28, 200818 yr Will Smith - Hancock Will Smith was excellent in Hancock, no doubt. I think Leger was actually better as the Joker. But I could not argue that Smith shouldn't be another potential nominee.
July 28, 200818 yr Didn't Daniel Day-Lewis win it last year for his role in There Will Be Blood? I loved his performance in that, but Ledger as the Joker was better. I agree his death has led to a lot of hype about his Oscar potential, but if you watch the movie I think it's clear his acting more than justifies the hype.
July 28, 200818 yr Didn't Daniel Day-Lewis win it last year for his role in There Will Be Blood? I loved his performance in that. Yeah. Academy Award for Best Actor - Daniel Day-Lewis for There Will Be Blood Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor - Javier Bardem for No Country for Old Men
July 28, 200818 yr Out of the 10 total nominees last year for best actor & best supporting actor, I think only two of those performances were better than Ledgers this year. Those two being the two winners.

July 28, 200818 yr Bardem was awesome, and while I really liked Lewis in There Will Be Blood, I thought Ledger was better as the Joker...JMO of course. I can understand that. I liked The Dark Knight better than I did There Will Be Blood but I thought that DDL was a little more impressive in his role than Ledger.
