UKMustangFan
First of where would Adam Dunn play? In Fenway he's either playing left or DHing. At this time he is behind Ramirez or Drew and he is wayyyyyy behind. Either way on offense he isn't a pivitol player. Theo is way sharper than to give up a Half Season Rental in Dunn for Masterson, Lester, Buchholz or even the grizzled veteran Wakefield. Don't fool yourself The Reds don't have very many viable trade partners. You are not getting a Red Sox pitching prospect for your junk. The Sox have won 2 out of the last 4 World Series, and you, you aren't even close. :thumb:

98NCCalum
He and Kearns were very highly touted.Kearns was ALWAYS rated higher in Prospect lists...
98NCCalum
How many times have you seen Votto play outfield? I was thinking the same thing. Votto is very athletic, he could at least play as well as Dunn out there. The only question I would have is his arm, I don't know what kind of arm he has. Dunn is very underrated for his arm. I agree with you, no way the Red Sox would want Dunn because they have more than what he could produce currently.
catcoach
I've seen Votto play outfield a number of times. He is by no means hopeless, but he's not solid out there yet. If it was something the Reds commit to and having him work in the outfield during the offseason, then it would be a possibility. Otherwise, you are looking at a solid bat that won't be in the line-up the last 1/3 of the game because of a defensive replacement.
UKMustangFan
I think Votto in LF is what the Reds are banking on considering they just drafted Alonso, the 1B out of Miami(FL).
SvFan4life
Votto is young enough that he could adjust to the outfield. I mean a lot of baseball players have played different positions. I'm sure it's non uncharted territory.

westsider
Votto's outfield defense received some pretty bad reviews in Louisville last season. He's a first baseman, and not even a real good one.

Votto has had bad reviews at first base, as well. The bottom line is if he continues to hit, he'll be in the lineup. And rightfully so. But it is downright painful to watch him flip the ball to a pitcher covering 1st....

If we lose Dunn & Griffey I would have no problem with the Reds hiding him in LF. He's athletic and quicker than Dunn...
Clyde
Anyone that mentions Dunn and Wily Mo in the same sentence should be banned from discussing baseball - EVER.
