Scott Co 2008/2009

Featured Replies

Scott Co. should win the Sweet 16. They will have top 10 talent in the nation.

Top 10 huh? I doubt it. They will be a top 25-35 team in the nation but top 10 is pushing it a little.

As good as they will be there are 10 + schools around the country who start kids who can match up with them and have better players at each position.

I say they should be rated #1 in the Country.

All they need to do is show up to their games on time.

I thought LexCath and Bryan Station had a lot of talent last year, but they didn't win it. Thats the beauty of KY HS Basketball. Upsets Upsets Upsets.

But back to the original post question .... play together as a team. A lot of new talent to be integrated into Hicks system. A lot of competition for playing time. And disgruntled players who are now on the bench due to all the 11th hour additions. If they can play unselfishly, they will be hard to beat.

They will have 3 D-1 type players in the starting 5 HUH?

Didn't Lexcath have the same kind of talent this year? What was the outcome of their season..? :sssh:

Seriously we all know Scott CO is going to be loaded but if some think all they have to do is show up you are sadly mistaken. There are several teams in state who can beat them and match up with them. You act as if no other team has multiple D1 players in their starting lineup. Talent doesn't always win. Remember that.

Obviously, they are the favorites but they have had a couple of close scrimmage games already this summer.

Jtown beat them this week at Shelby Co, although they held a 10 point lead most of the game and Hicks subbed freely.

Trinity played even with them for the whole game this Thursday at Shelby Co until Scott Co pulled away in the last couple of minutes to win by 12. Farris was a beast in that scrimmage!!

That was with Trinity playing without Little and Scott Co playing the starters most of the 4th quarter.

Scott Co will be formidable once the kids have a chance to work together but I don't think you should just give them the trophy now.

LexCath had mid-major DI types at best ... personally, I believe that Scott County's new "Big 3" has more talent and upside than the LexCath bunch.

I am assuming you are talking Phares, Euton, but who is the third?

Jackson ...

goldenrule19 might want to weigh in here.......isn't Ge-Lawn better than Jackson?

If a couple of these players are D1 ,why did they have so much trouble with little Elliott Co who as far as I know ,doesn't have any D1 players or has had any D1 offers?

Who are some incoming freshman for Scott County. I had heard that this kid that played middle school ball from Bondurant Middle School in Frankfort was coming to Scott County. Is that true and what is his name if anyone knows. Thanks. I had heard he was rated 3rd best 8th grader in the state. I have seen him play and he is a very good player.

My point is, Scott Co isn't just going to roll over everyone in the state. There are several teams who have just as much talent at some of the same positions. Holmes for example has 3 D1 guards in Pittman/R. Johnson/Housley who also have more heighth than Jackson/Guyn and GRC has 2 legitimate D1 players in Zollo and Stenzel.

Don't get me wrong, SC SHOULD be the best team in the state but come tournament time things don't always play out like they should.

I think Euton and Jackson coming in pretty much answered the question of what do they need to improve on.
