June 4, 200818 yr Author In all seriousness, what brand of boat is it? And really what type of boat are you looking for? Pontoon could fit your discription. Speed boat? What size? I'm wanting like a bowrider, around 18'. I've found an older model celebrity like mid 90's. And then a 2000 model 17' Glastron that has just a 3.0 motor, so gas wouldn't be bad for like 7 and I can talk em down to 6300 or so.
June 4, 200818 yr Author A dude name Donny on the Bob and Tom show is trying to sell a boat... You swear to God? I actually got to see Donny Baker live about a month ago when the Bob and Tom Comedy All Stars Tour came to Paducah, hilarious:thumb:
June 4, 200818 yr there are 7 boats behind my parents house, none of which belong to me. :irked: But, if L.A. ever floods, they will be ok.
June 4, 200818 yr I've been kickin around the idea of buying an older ski boat or something. I found an 18' foot celebrity thats a 94 model, they wanted 6k, I've talked em down to 5. It's in pretty good shape. Is this a stupid purchase? Here's an official definition of a boat, "a hole in the water to which you continue to pour money into". Seriously, it's a great hobby and a fantastic way to get away. It can be expensive, but we've found it to worth every penny. Good Luck, see you on the river or the lake!!!!!:thumb:
June 4, 200818 yr We have a 24' Bayliner with a 70 gallon tank, cost about $400 bucks to fill it up, but we love it. As long as you take 6 or 8 people with you and they all chip in it's not to bad.
June 4, 200818 yr Buy a Canoe or Kayak and there are no maintenance fees plus you get a great upper-body workout!
June 7, 200818 yr If gas prices aren't an issue, I highly recommend it. Folks who own boats are never short of friends. Ask any of mine.

I have no idea of your budget but I must advise you to try and find a 20' or longer boat. KY Lake gets rough on anything under 20' but at the 20' length you have enough length to usually take KY well. Check the local boat trader found at area gas stations. The trader for our area has Paducah grouped with cities to the north while any city south like Mayfield and Murray fall into a southern grouping based out of Nashville so get both. Also finding a boat trader in Paducah is tough, I looked for one about a year ago and could not find one but they are easy to find in Mayfield and Murray. We bought our last boat from boattrader on line and it was in Canada. Also stop in the major marinas, most all have bullitin boards on the gas dock with boats 4-sale. I would tell you to do a sea trail and have a mechanic go through it but I read where you said you are doing marine survey's so you already know this much. For you guys that are land lubbers, a Survey is the term in the marine industry for appraise., 00Rock, are you SAMS approved? let me know and if so I have a job for you. I have a documented cruiser that insurance requires a new survey on every 3 years and I am at year 3. I boat out of Moors, Just Wright IV is the boat so if you are out and about say hello and I will share a beverage and we can talk a little Mayfield and CC football.
June 12, 200818 yr If gas prices aren't an issue, I highly recommend it. Folks who own boats are never short of friends. Ask any of mine. Boy, isn't that the truth. When I sold my first boat years ago, I lost half my friend! I have another I have owned for 6 years. I parked it when gas went to $2.50 out of protest. I said I wouldn't take it out until prices went down, my own little war with the oil companies. Haha, I lost!! I might sell it tho. It a Mirage tunnel hull race boat, has been 118 mph, but with current motor only goes 93 mph, or 50 with the kid in it. I love it, but it's hard to justify $120 gas for four hours of boating, at full throttle.
June 12, 200818 yr My aunt and uncle have a pontoon boat and it is very fun to go out on the lake on it...
