Featured Replies

I've been kickin around the idea of buying an older ski boat or something. I found an 18' foot celebrity thats a 94 model, they wanted 6k, I've talked em down to 5. It's in pretty good shape. Is this a stupid purchase?

Please tell me you have heard the old saying, "The happiest day of your life is the day you buy a boat and the next happiest day is the day you SELL your boat.

When purchasing a used boat......Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!

This maybe a good year to buy a boat due to the gas prices. There will probably be those that were thinking of selling and just figure, heck get rid of it for whatever, gas is to expensive. But you must remember that a gallon of gas for the boat is about a $1.00 or so more than a gallon for the car. Or I guess I should say at the dock. You can haul your own gas, more power to ya. Looking forward to the summer on the river this year. Really hoping there will be less boats. I can't imagine those big 45 footers turning about 20 knots going past the river camp throwing our docks and boats on the shore this year. I may be wrong, but that takes a ton of gas and at about $1,000 to just fill thier tanks, I'm really hoping they are rare this summer. There was an article in the Cincy Enguirer about boating gas prices and simply stated, a day on the river in the boat was going to cost an average of $400.:irked:

All of our boats have been used. Yes, you must be smart but I have also seen new boats that have had a ton of problems. You just have to be boat smart all the way around.

I know a guy who has a boat and says that BOAT is an acronym for "Bust out another thousand." I thought that was funny.

Heck, these days that's just for gas and not even the repairs.

Oh yea, if you buy that boat, make sure it has a bucket and a paddle.

Also, found another boat in Owensboro, its pretty nice. I'm not gonna leave it at the lake so gas will be gotten at a regular gas station. I'm a boat appraisor so I know what to look for on a boat but yes I've heard that about boats. All I really want it for, is to get me from the dock to the party cove about a mile away, anchor, drink on it all day and get me back to the dock

Unsinkable and doesn't take a lick of gas. Makes a nice beer cooler when not in use.:thumb:

I need to clarify, It really is a nice little Whaler that we use as a beer chiller when not in use.

HAHA, I actually seen your status on facebook sayin you were wanting a boat.

In all seriousness, what brand of boat is it? And really what type of boat are you looking for? Pontoon could fit your discription. Speed boat? What size?

I have nothing against buying a used boat and I agree with you that one must be as you say; "boat smart".

Many boats have been used by people who have no clue how to care for them properly. That is why I said "buyer beware".

Also, it would be wise to make sure the title is available and if so, is clear.
