June 3, 200818 yr So who are the players that will replace Dunn and Jr that are going to make them better? I'd start by dealing Griff to Seattle in a package for Johima or Clemment at catcher + try to get one of their 2 pitching prospects or an outfield prospect. Griff will help put fans in the seats there, merchandise + he might even find some of his youth there. I hope so because I like him. Dunn is MUCH better than Griff at this point. I wouldn't just give him away but while I could still get something of value for him I would try to deal him to the American League. Your question is broad because until the Reds dangle him they won't know what they could get for him. He puts up some good power numbers but is too bad in the field and strikes out too much for me. I like him too but not as my left fielder. He's also SLOW! Like I said I wouldn't just give him away but I feel like the Reds can get value for him right now and I think they could be a better team for it. He brings homeruns + RBI's but he is a liability in the field, on the bases and striking out. Outfielders aren't nearly as hard to find. There is a surplus of them. Look at teams like the Pirates, Cards etc. They are able to take no names like McClouth, Nady, Ludwick and even an old pitcher like Ankiel + produce. Don't believe me.... go check those guys numbers out.

June 3, 200818 yr If Homer just starts throwing the ball over the plate, we have two number one's in Harang and Volquez, then three solid number two's in Bronson,Cueto, and homer who both have number one stuff. I think we are one year away (that being the start of next season) from not just contenders but a threat in the NL. It might hinge on the way the Adam Dunn contract is handled. Homer not only HAS to throw the ball over the plate he will have to have learned to "pitch"a little more rather than just throw, a 95mph belt high fastball leaves the park at around that same speed . I also hope that his attitude is better now but have heard on here that may still be a problem. The Reds still have a couple of other good pitching prospects down on the farm as well I believe. I would love to see the Reds get a quality LH starter, maybe by a trade, imo that is needed badly. I also would love to get a quality catcher as well. I don't know what all Seattle would have to deal for Griff but I wouldn't just "give" him away to dump a contract. IMO the Reds could get some quality players along with some prospects for him ("if" Seattle has anything that would help us) Anyway, JMO and that's why we are sitting here behind this keyboard and not making these decisions. At least like this we are never wrong.....:sssh::thumb:

June 3, 200818 yr I honestly would like too know some names. I believe last year we could of got Erwin Santana and or Howie Kenderick and or Casey Kotchman from Los Angelas Angles. I maybe wrong though but I thought I saw something like that.

You don't really believe they can't get a Pro for him do you? Not even a AAA player? Santana + Kotchman are having pretty good years aren't they? That's the kind of things I'd like to hear from those that are close to Cincy. I agree with Oldrambler. Homer has to learn to get the ball down some and pitch not throw IMO. I also agree that you have to put the money you are dumping into the equation.
June 3, 200818 yr Santana 7 wins 64 strikeouts 3.06 ERA 0.99 WHIP Kotchman 24 Runs 6 HR's 30 RBI's .315 Average Those two guys actually play in the majors and are having really good years. That's better than AA players. That deal doesn't look too bad to me although they need outfielders not 1B. The starter sure would be nice though! Any other deals that any of you in the know have heard of?
