May 17, 200818 yr With awards to Al Gore and Jimmy Carter, the Nobel Peace Prize has become nothing but a political endorsement and an attack on this country's democratically elected president. From the column (for those who missed the point of this thread): True, but Gore can't help that he benefited from that.
May 17, 200818 yr It just takes one person, such as a history professor, to nominate anyone. With a degree in history, I may nominate RTS or OR next year. With their determination to stockpile an impressive personal arsenal, they are doing their dardest to keep guns out of the hands of the bad guys and make the world more peaceful.
May 17, 200818 yr Author True, but Gore can't help that he benefited from that.I agree, but with all of the money that Al Gore is making from the global warming scam, did he really need to accept the prize? BTW, I have less of a problem with Gore winning the prize than I did with Carter's acceptance.
May 17, 200818 yr It's not. It is a shame she didn't receive it though. I'm just trying to figure out why Al Gore should be "hanging his head".
May 17, 200818 yr I'm just trying to figure out why Al Gore should be "hanging his head". He should keep that head high... as should Prez Carter.
May 17, 200818 yr Gore. You have to be nominated first. Was this lady nominated? If not, she couldn't be considered. The Committee has a broad criteria for a potential recipient. It must have felt that Gore and the International Panel's work on climate change had significant ramifications the world over. I will cast by lot in this one with the Nobel Peace Prize Committee who keep Alfred Nobel's ideals in mind instead of a few gun-toting, war-loving BGP boys. 1) She was nominated, what she did, IMO, is much more deserving than someone that made a movie full of lies, half truths and unsettled science. The ramifications are what exactly? Him getting rich off of his scheme? 2) I don't love war and your hatred for guns and my right to have them has zero to do with this thread.

May 17, 200818 yr I agree Ms. Sendler was worthy of the prize. But, Gore didn't award it to himself. Why should he hang his head? You make it sound like he wrested the bridal boquet out of a little girls hands at a wedding reception.

May 18, 200818 yr Ms Sendler would have been a worthy recipient any time in the last 63 years. Should ALL of the winners hang their heads? Why can't you guys just disagree with someone without having to question their integrity and character?
May 18, 200818 yr Ms Sendler would have been a worthy recipient any time in the last 63 years. Should ALL of the winners hang their heads? I have been thinking the same thing.

The Nobel Peace Prize has become nothing but a high profile left wing political statement. They might as well change the name of the award to the Nobel Liberal of the Year prize.
