Just skimmed the thread, didn't read it word for word but Clinton was not mentioned one time that I could see in this thread, till you mentioned him/her. Gore was mentioned in the thread title so kinda hard not to bring his name up.

Al Gore should hang his head in shame for that scraggily beard he grew, not for winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

 

He was not the most deserving, but I thought the point of the thread was more about how ridiculous the selection process of the Nobel Peace Prize has gotten rather than a discussion on Al Gore's qualifications.

 

 

Why are you and a handful of BGP'ers more qualified than the Nobel Committee to judge who is most deserving representatives of Alfred Nobel's ideals? The selection process is an extensive and exhaustive one and considers broad criteria in determining the most deserving recipient.

Not necessarily this thread but threads in general. Clinton and Gore are mentioned a lot. They are the Repubs favorite whipping boys, just as the dastardly Bush is for Donkeys.

Dude, I had some trouble finding a link to that show, but I think it was Dateline or 20/20, by the way what does 20/20 mean anyway, man? I had some algebra in high school, I thought 20/20 meant 1. Maybe that math dude can help with that, because I just don't know man.

 

But, I did find this article, that has a bunch of scientist, some real brainiacs that have changed their minds about the warm globe thing, they now say it is not what people like the Gore dude are saying. Because in this country I thought we had a right to our own opinion. No difference than I would like to see the Reds sign Dunn for a long term deal at about 10 mil per year.

Absolutely nothing wrong with any of your opinions. I even agree with some of them.(Not necessarily the Dunn view, though)

No matter what, the title of the article and the title of this thread are misleading at best, and inciteful at worst.

I'll offer my opinion and my non-facts based opinion in like to yours by adding that I'm sure a "good majority" of Americans would consider Mr. Gore a clown.

And frankly, I think that the Bozo picked the wrong presidential race to throw his hat into, because sadly, he may have had a chance in this one.

:confused:How can you be asking anyone this question? Wasn't it you that took it upon yourself to nominmate RTS and myself in one of your post? Are you a member of the Nobel Commitie?.......and if so congrats, I wasn't aware that we had such a distinguished member on here :lol:. I think not though and this is just another pot/kettle type statement and I also believe that the "handful of BGP'rs" that you are speaking of are every bit as qualified as you are to post on here.

 

By the way, I don't know if you were "mocking" or name calling earlier or not but my name is not "Sparky" as you referred to me in post #51 but he was a very good manager in his day . I was just having some fun with a comment that you made about Mr. Gore, nothing more...nothing less.

Absolutely not. I remember your avatar of The Big Red Machine's "Main Spark". He was always one of my favs. I used it as an endearing term. Your opinions are just as imortant as mine. I love the discussions.

Would you be willing to address the second part of my post? I was familiar with global warming long before I even knew who Al Gore was.

What is your point? That you heard about global warming before you heard about Al Gore?

 

As I have said in several threads, I have no problem with global warming research. Before Gore discovered that he could make a mountain of money on the issue, the scientists were busy studying data and publishing paper with out being demeaned based on their findings and theories. Al Gore shifted the debate from the laboratories to the media prematurely. Now, he is getting desperate because the global temperatures are not fitting the models that he has been pushing.

Didn't mean to imply that they are one and the same, although they both involve the issue of man-made materials causing potential environmental problems.

Maybe you are also old enough to remember some of the same people who are currently pushing the global warming theory, pushing the global cooling scare back in the 70's. Fortunately, these people did not have the financial assets back then to wreck our economy trying to prevent another ice age.
