May 15, 200818 yr I am about to go force myself to try and sleep, but it is hard. Anyone else have problems sleeping? I don't know why, but I can't fall asleep before 3 or 4 AM.
May 15, 200818 yr I have troubles falling asleep every night. It's not really a time thing but when I decide to go to bed I end up lying there for over an hour at least before I fall doze off. Nothing I do seems to help either.

Nothing I do seems to help either. Same here. It stinks because I'm always tired the next day for a while. I usually have to get up around 7:30 AM and no later than 9:00 AM. Maybe we're insomniacs.
May 15, 200818 yr I think maybe I am one. It kills me to get up especially if I have an 8 o'clock class. I never seemed to make it to many of those . But seriously I'm about to go to the doctor and ask him to prescribe something good.
May 15, 200818 yr That is why I work midnights. No matter how long I have been up, I can't seem to go to sleep until late, nor can I get up early. I have become used to it, as has my wife.
May 15, 200818 yr I don't have trouble going to sleep, but I wake up around 2 or 3 then I can't get back to sleep.
May 15, 200818 yr I dont know how old you are, but sleeping problems get worse in your forties. Try a Tylenol p.m. or plain benedryl (25-50mg). Dont take Tylenol if you have been drinking.
May 15, 200818 yr Have 5 young children and do a P90X workout every morning at 5:30 am. Trust me, you will sleep like a baby.
May 15, 200818 yr I have had insomnia for 20+ years. Some stretches it is worse than others. Mine is actually secondary insomina, in which I have trouble staying asleep through the night and often get up 5-6 or more times. Primary insomina - the trouble falling asleep initially - isn't as bad a problem for me, but is the most common insomnia amongst the masses. I remember 15 years ago when the most common sleeping medication on the market was Halcion. Man, talk about a pill that turned you into a zombie the next day. Now I take Ambien CR (Controlled Release) and it works great. I try to only take it during the really bad cycles. Once they get me into a halfway decent sleeping pattern, I stop taking them until things get really bad again. My advice to you is this: the human body isn't meant to function on inadequate amounts of sleep. If you really think you have a sleeping disorder (and opposed to doing something late at night that causes you to stay up - i.e., exercising, eating, sitting in bed for hours watching TV, etc..), then go talk to your doctor so he can prescribed you something. The over-the-counter "PM" pills are okay as a stop-gap, but if you truly have insomina you need to talk to your doctor.
May 15, 200818 yr I started an absolutely stupid thread a while back on how sleep is a drug and we are all addicted and have withdrawals. It was really dumb. Anyways, I have trouble sleeping sometimes. I have more problems with staying asleep for a good seven or eight hours, I wake up early. I guess, on the bright side, it makes for a longer day.

I work out almost every day, get up between 8 AM and 9AM and usually stay up until 2-4 AM. Then repeat. It doesn't matter how tired or sleepy I feel, once I get home, I'm not tired anymore. I have stayed up until 6 or 7 am before trying to sleep

May 15, 200818 yr PH and I are so different in this and it makes it hard on both of us. PH can not and will not go to bed before 3 am....I, on the other hand go to bed around midnight, then, when he is ready to go to bed, I am ready to get up....he can't sleep past 6 or 7 in the morning....neither one of us gets much sleep at all...infact, I noticed this morning that the bags under my eyes are really swollen and are getting worse. I did not have this problem until I had to be on call 24/7 for 15 years at my last place of employment...I guess with a higher degree comes less sleep LOL LOL. Anyway, good luck...maybe we will all may have to start having nap time LOL
May 15, 200818 yr I have to take Ambien too sometimes. However I suggest you lay down after taking it, don't think you can walk around the house and do stuff for another 30 minutes. You will appear to be "drunk"...
