Mayo is innocent, the NCAA said that they heavily checked his amatuerism before he enrolled at USC and while he was at USC and seen no wrongdoing or any kind of violation while he was there.

Poor OJ. His career is over. I hope somebody out there in the NBA takes a chance on him.

 

:laugh::thumb: I agree with an earlier poster that quoted me, I realize that the NBA (national bums association:D) couldn't care les about if Mayo, USC or his AAU leeches cheated. I think that it goes without saying that all did.

 

I actually wish him well. I just think that he needs to surround himself with better people. That has been a problem for him since Jr. High. At a young age all of the "Mayo gravy train" leeches were all over him (then kid) and certain people that imo should have stepped in allowed it to happen and that imo is what started the circus. Now imo Mayo has continued it bc that is all that he has seen. Mayo is old enough now and when this happened to know right from wrong and it really doesn't matter to me or effect me one bit.

What exactly makes you think he needs to turn his life around? I've never heard anything bad about Mayo as a person...there are a lot of people who don't like him because of his basketball career. That says more about them than OJ, IMO.

 

If people want to play "holier than thou" and criticize him for accepting money or gifts, then have at it. I know when I was a teenager, or a freshman in college, I wouldn't have turned down a free meal, some free cash, or a 42" plasma television for my dorm room. Maybe that says more about me than anything...if it does, so be it.

 

The fact is, none of us can relate to what a guy like Mayo has gone through...being a child prodigy in basketball, all kinds of people trying to latch on and "mentor" him, which really means take advantage and get a payday from him. That's pretty high expectations of a teenager to expect them to be able to handle that like a profession and make the right decision all the time.

 

The hating of OJ Mayo got old a long, long time ago. If you want to criticize someone, look at the parasites who prey on these young athletes and the schools who turn a blind eye to anything suspicious or wrong.

Last thing I heard about Mayo was that his NBA stock was rising because teams were really impressed with his record off the court and in the community.

OJ Mayo is a great guy! Just the people around him over the last couple of years are BAD. Hope it will help him get away from them now. Guidance is on the way with the help of Mr. Jordan of the Bobcats. He is going to take him under his wings. Stock will rise again.

He probably wasn't going to be allowed to return to North College Hill because of several incidents with him and Bill Walker. The craziness at 3-4 HHS games and him getting tossed once. The time he got caught in a car with marijuana and his buddy took the blame(rumors of the buddy being paid off by those in question now). Thats not even counting what was swept under the rug by HHS.

Lol I mean honestly I highly doubt OJ cares if he gets caught, nor would I or do I. What are they going to do? He got his one year in now he's going to make millions. I would have done the same thing as well.

Exactly what I was wondering TD. At one time yes, jr. high (and maybe some early h.s.) but O.J. has been a "big boy" for quite some time now, he should know right from wrong. My guess is that he has known exactly what was going on. I honestly don't see how he could avoid knowing.

Yes, he will be no doubt be in the NBA and also be very well off fnancially and I guess in some peoples mind the $$$$ makes up for a lot.

What makes this even more sad is that some people in society teach these kids to expect and that it's ok to take cash, gifts, etc illegally. Their entourages are nothing but a bunch freeloaders as far as I am concerned.
