I'm starting to see signs of a possible Clinton VP nod in the works.............which is probably what the Democrats need to win the White House.

Well personally, I'm for the party that gave me a huge tax break this year. I'm not even close to a millionaire, my parents and my in laws aren't close either and between the 3 families the Bush tax cuts will put about 1200 more bucks each in our families. So I don't want to see them go thats like an extra pay day this year and we aren't the wealthiest 1 %!

WOW!!! You're quite welcome. Obviously, actual numbers are irrelevant. Oil production is a business. Their job is to make money for their stock holders. There have been periods where the oil companies have had to get by on much smaller margins or even losses. The market, like anything else is cyclical. You may not like it, and you may be tempted to blame some mysterious "greedy" oil barons for your high gasoline bill; but that's just the way the free market system works. There's nothing we can do about it, other than learn to deal with it.

For the record, this country has never had a negative amount of net jobs over the course of a year. We add about 2 million jobs per year, and often those manufacturing jobs sent out of the country give poor countries the opportunity to grow, as well as cheaper (and sometimes better quality) products for consumers. And who are the consumers? Oh yes! That's you and I!

 

So let me get this straight: The millionaires make their money, the bad jobs in this country leave (to be replaced by EVEN MORE higher paying ones), the developing countries get valuable jobs, and capital (physical and knowledge), and us, the consumers, get lower-priced goods. So this is what you are against?

 

And as for being for the oil companies, let me ask two questions? Who do the oil companies employ? Who owns the stock in the oil companies? By golly, once again it is you and I (actually, I don't own stock, so my parents). There profit-maximizing schemes, to line the pockets of the average Americans, are so evil.

 

And let's remember here, what is the best way that the oil companies can lower costs? No, no, I can assure you that it is not taxing them more- if the government said, "Now, Mr. Fundamental, I am going to take $10 more of the $100 your basketball-training facility just made. So, Mrs. Pelosi and I expect that you will only lower your prices, right?" Because whenever the government takes money from someone, all they want to do is begin to make less money! Sounds great!

 

If you want to be against the war, be my guest. IMO it is the only argument that makes any practical sense to vote Democrat. I disagree with your position, I think that what we are doing is right and the soldiers would agree with me (and now would be the worst time to leave), but I can't convince you there.

 

As for the religious values, I'm sorry for following my conscience. I oppose gay marriage, the death penalty, and abortion. I am not sure how I am ignoring them at all?

 

So just for the record, everyone in america is doing great best eight years of all time, wonderful jobs, unemployment rate is as low as it has ever been. Everyone owns a home. All people enjoy paying 4 dollars at the pump. That we are doing the right thing in Iraq by forcing our views on them. And that you personally, think gay marriage death penalty and abortion are wrong. What about the environment, taking care of the needy were do we stand on that? I repsect that view, I hope that you will respect mine, when I say I disagree.

FWIW, Exxon is at 10.87%, which is more than Wendy's 3.17%, but less than McDonald's 11.16%. Should we tax McDonald's?

I adressed the issues. But if you are going to vote Democrat to make everyone in America better off, improve the jobs in this country, lower the unemployment rate, give everyone the chance to buy a home, and lower the price of gas, you couldn't be more off.

 

I take care of the environment in every way that I can, and I donate a portion (not large enough) of the very, very little money that I have.

 

Like I said, Iraq is the argument that stands alone. I disagree with you and respect your opinion there. I respect your opinion on everything, but if you really think electing a Democrat president is going to improve the economy, then you are wrong. Even if a Democrat gets elected, however, we are going to come out of the recession and people will give the President credit, but it isn't true, this recession will end regardless of who is in office (maybe even while Bush is still in office). But the economy will not be benefited by higher taxes.
