Woodson or Lorenzen

Featured Replies

I like the skills of Lorenzen better than Woodson. I hope Lorenzen sticks as back-up, and they keep Woodson as the number 3.

HB, no hard feelings bud, I just thought there was a lot not understand when you asked whats not to understand. You made it seem like it was a clear un diluted situation when really it all just boils down to differing opinions on the matter. I understand where you are coming from but its not saying who's right or wrong because neither of us are, just differing opinions. I have reasons to make me question the pick, you have reasons to justify the pick and without those elements then BGP's would not be what it is. I love to debate sports and I'm glad we get to. I'm just saying not everyone will understand this pick, especially if you are not a Giants fan. Like someone alluded to earlier Carolina would have been a good situation because of the recent injury prone-ness to Delhome. There is still some question marks as to how he will bounce back, then your left with Testaverde who is going on a million years old in NFL time and who probably will be lucky to last more than one season. However, Testaverde has been around and would offer great tutledge that a coaching staff would not be able to. Eli is a productive and great QB but is still learning himself so he could not give him that. Other better situations that come to mind would be Minnesotta, that other New York team (still unceratin how Clemens will shake out), Detroit, Tampa Bay, Houston, Kansas City, and perhaps even someone like Arizona who obviously have a little bit of doubt about Leinart still by them begging Warner back after he went on record to say if he would not play then he would just retire. Hopefully though, he can run the NYG guantlet though that has been laid out and first win a roster spot, then make some moves in the next couple of years to get the back-up spot.

It's not hard at all to understand it. The Giants are the type of team that will draft the best player available. Woodson was the highest rated player on their board, so they took him. And they got a steal IMO.

I can't help it that other teams decided to pass on Woodson. He may have bad better opportunities elsewhere, but those teams decided to take other QB's.

Cowboys need a back up and I would be really happy if one of the two end up there.

I wouldn't mind to see Woodson a boy.

Too bad he's a Giant.

Well I guess there is no reason for any of us to have differing opinions then. I guess we should all feel the same way about everything and if someone strays off and has a different opinion then someone else then I guess they are wrong. I guess this means I am wrong about everything and don't know what I am talking about and you are always right on the money.

What you don't get is I get you and what your saying. The Giants got a steal I know, they go by the book and take their highest rated player on the board even if there is no obvious use in that player. But do they have a need, use, or even purpose for Woodson or any other QB for that matter? Probably not and that is why I will continue to say I don't get where they're coming from. I mean if your going to have to cut some QB's before you even go into camp, chances are you don't "need" another one. But I guess thats just me and I guess I am wrong.

Yeah it is, especially since he may end up on the practice squad.

No, he won't. If he does, another team will be free to sign him.

You preach about everyone having an opinion yet you harp on me for sharing mine. I've never said you are "wrong" or that your opinion does not matter. I am simply explaining why the Giants made the pick. Woodson was the BPA, and yes, he will be earning a spot on the roster if he works hard. Back up quarterback is an important position in the NFL and Woodson can work his way into being a backup QB for the Giants, and maybe eventually a starter elsewhere.

The Giants have a couple of capable quarterbacks on the roster, but I see nothing wrong with adding more competition. They have stated in their post draft press conferences that they felt it was too good of a value to pass up.

I have already explained how the guys on the roster (besides Eli) are all expendable. Carr/Wright/Lorenzen will all have to fight for a roster spot, and now Woodson is in the mix as well.

Do they have a need, use or purpose for Woodson? Of course they do! He was once a potential top 10 pick! Every team has a need for a good backup quarterback!

I'll take Woodson.

I would guess the depth chart will look like: Eli, Carr, Woodson.

HB, what do you think the depth chart will be before week one? I made my guess.

I don't know. It's going to be a tough battle in training camp between hopefully Carr, Lorenzen and Woodson. I don't think the Giants will cut Woodson because they just drafted him and want to let him develop. I think he already has locked up the 3rd spot unless he just comes out to camp and is lazy and shows no work ethic. I HOPE Lorenzen beats our Carr for the 2nd spot. My gut says the Giants will stick with Carr because of his experience, but I am rooting for JLoad to win the battle.

What's not to understand about the pick? He was at one point in time expected to be a first round pick, and dropped all the way to the sixth round. What other player was out there that the Giants could have taken and gotten more out of?

Wesley Woodyard, Lamar Myles, a nice receiver. Here's the thing, IMO, I think in the very late rounds teams should draft for positions where mulitple players play, ie...OL, WR, LB, DL, or DB.....that way there is some room for those draft picks to make the team. When you draft a QB in round 7, you are guaranteeing one of two things. Either your draftee won't make it, or someone that is on your current roster is guaranteed not to make it. That kind of stinks, especially when neither will likely see the field past August.

Lorenzen, he scored WAY higher on the Wonderlich
