Woodson or Lorenzen

Featured Replies

Wesley Woodyard, Lamar Myles, a nice receiver. Here's the thing, IMO, I think in the very late rounds teams should draft for positions where mulitple players play, ie...OL, WR, LB, DL, or DB.....that way there is some room for those draft picks to make the team. When you draft a QB in round 7, you are guaranteeing one of two things. Either your draftee won't make it, or someone that is on your current roster is guaranteed not to make it. That kind of stinks, especially when neither will likely see the field past August.

Why take Woodyard? Apparently no team graded him as a good enough pick to draft in the entire draft, let alone the 6th round. Same for Myles. If they wanted them, they would have signed, or attempted to sign them as UDFA's.

The Giants are set at O-line with starters and backups. They do not really need depth there. They already drafted a WR to their very deep WR core and they already drafted two linebackers and two DB's. They got a defensive lineman after Woodson, so they didn't need to draft someone there who would likely get cut anyways.

The Giants did not draft Woodson in round 7, they got him with their first pick in round 6. The Giants drafted Woodson at pick 198. Tom Brady was drafted as pick 199, if I'm not mistaken. Was it a mistake for the Pats to draft a QB that low, when they already had Drew Bledsoe?

Lorenzen, he scored WAY higher on the Wonderlich

I seriously doubt that will be the determining factor.

On a side note, and I know this sounds goofy, but if it comes between JLo and Woody, I want JLo to get the nod, he has a wife and kids and it would be harder for him to pick up somewhere, IMO.

I think if anything the Giants would try to keep JLo on the practice squad, if he'd stay in that role. They like him a lot. Regardless, if he does get cut, I think he'll find a job in no time. He's a young QB with a big arm.

I don't think J Load will be eligible for the practice squad.

Woodson has the #3 spot locked up for money reasons. He has rookie salary and the others are making veteran money. So Eli #1 and Woodson #2. The big battle is between Carr and LOAD. Wright is on the outside looking in.

I think Wright is the odd man out before camp. If Lorenzen gets cut before camp, then it is definitely going to be Manning, Carr, Woodson.

I understand you defending your team's pick. That said, New England needed a solid backup. Why they waited so long to take Tom Brady, I can't remember. But he was a solid #2 from day one. Woody probably won't be.

The Giants don't need a solid backup? Anthony Wright is a guy who goes from team to team and Lorenzen has very little experience.

There were no other positions of need for the World Champs, they could afford to use a pick on a backup QB.
