Rate Bengals Rounds 1&2

Featured Replies

Good bet the Simpson pick was all about Mike Brown choosing the least expensive WR that could be had at that point. One would think it shouldn't be too hard to come to terms with a 5th round WR drafted in the 2nd round, but they'll still manage to screw it up.

I don't think money was an issue with this pick. Regardless if it was Sweed, Kelly, or Simpson, all are going to look at what the 46th pick from last year signed for.

It's sad, and it's not going to change anytime soon. The scary thing is that they didn't address the DT position, and now they have to face Mendenhall (sp??) and Rice twice a season.

I agree with GT.. I don't think Rice will be the kinda back that kills the Bengals.. now Mendenhall, that's another topic, not a good one either.

Really wanted Ellis but I will definently settle for Rivers. Go back and watch a USC game while he was there, that cat is always where the ball is.

I don't understand the message sent to our current DT's. Well we tried to upgrade and replace at least one of you but couldn't get it done. Now go get 10 sacks!

I don't understand why they don't go Jackson there, not only do you get a burner at reciever that can play the slot or the wideout position, but you get a guy who can return punt and kick returns. When was the last time the Bengals had a good returner. Peter Warrick, Eric Bienemey sp?. THis is why the Bengals won't be good until Mike Brown is out. I hate Cincinnati sports.

Do not like either one of Bengals picks, why not trade up like NO or Jacksonville did and get Ellis or the kid from Florida. 2nd round you've got to take Sweed or Jackson. Letting Pittsburgh have that big wide receiver that Ben has wanted will burn the Bengals. Also, would have much rather had the Connor kid from Penn State as a linebacker than Rivers, who seems small and overrated. Very bad first 2 rounds for Bengals, worsr than the Lions.

Rivers is a solid pick. They could have drafted Simpson today. Same old story with the Cicadas

After reading Mark Curnutte's analysis in the paper this morning, I'm bummed.

No doubt Rivers addresses a need, but then I read they could have had New England's pick in the first round for the same exact trade they offered Detroit for Shaun Rogers. They did nothing.

The Simpson kid could have been taken today as mentioned, and they could have gotten a defensive tackle like Laws. This team desperately needs a punt returner and Jackson from Cal had taken 6 back for six in his career and that is a need...and was even addressed by the special teams coach.

Bengal fans will be proud they will have a bunch of nice guys on the team, they may go 6-10 but they will be nice guys.

I question the pick of Simpson, but I would not have selected Jackson. He is 5'9" 168, and would have to be a slot reciever. Our best returning receiver (TJ) plays the slot. He needed a bigger outside threat to replace Henry. Kelly or Sweed looked to be the players if the Bengals did not have Laws with a 2nd round grade. I was very surprised by the decision. Simpson's size, speed, and other measurables are almost identical to Keenan Burton who will probably be available in the 5th.

IMO, I just don't see Jackson doing that well in the NFL as a receiver. He might be a solid return guy, but in this league, you have to do both, or you'll be in the situation the Bears are in. A great return guy demanding big money who only touches the ball maybe once a game now that teams kick away from him. The WR class was said to be deep this year without any true studs like past years. I take Laws with that second pick as he's listed as the top 3 or 4 DT in the draft, and that's a huge need for the Bengals and he's a true 2nd round pick.

Maybe the Bengals only list those people who give consent to be listed as a Bengal employee in public

I'd like to see the Bengals get the DT from Ark this round. I can't believe Dan Conner is still around!

Are you saying there are employees that don't want people to know they work for the Bengals? :sssh:  I wouldn't blame them, but there is no consent form to sign to let them publicize your employment.
