The problem with Simpson is that they could of got him with their third round pick. Should of took the DT from Notre Dame, than Simpson.

I must say, the Simpson kid is an amazing athlete. IMO, he is just a stretch as a second round pick.

When the Bengals came up I was thinking...great spot for a Kelly, Jackson or even a Sweed....then Simpson pops up, and I was like, what the....

I liked the first pick for the Bengals. But the Simpson pick was confusing. Not sure why they would take him over Sweed, Kelly, Jackson etc.

I think in a couple years Simpson and Jackson may do a lot of the same things on the field. I wanted Kelly or Sweed to have a big target that has wheels...

I like the Rivers pick. I think that was a need pick and not a stretch. The 2nd round pick was a big, fat F. The highest he was projected was round 5. Why go after him in the 2nd? If he was their receiver of choice in this draft, then why not wait until at least one of their picks in the 3rd. It's still a stretch there, but at least more reasonable. They could've gotten Laws, Groves, or even Rice with that 2nd round pic. This pick here shows why the Bengals' franchise is one of the worst in the NFL.

It's the prime example of poor scouting and preparation from a tenth class front office. Typical Bengals. They see a guy at a SR showcase "bowl" and go from there. You can't start at well after halftime in terms of scouting...

Yeah my problem isn't with the fact that they took the guy they liked its that they don't seem to be in touch with where other teams have him ranked.... If you want him, great, get him a round or two later. No one else on the board was considering the kid that early...

It's sad, and it's not going to change anytime soon. The scary thing is that they didn't address the DT position, and now they have to face Mendenhall (sp??) and Rice twice a season.

I'm not too concerned with Rice. Way too many miles in that tank already...

Yeah, but he doesn't have to carry the load. IMO, he'll rotate in and out with McGahee nicely.

Maybe it's just because these two games stand out so much, but he did not have a major impact against the speed of the UC D in the last two years. I just don't think he translates well to the NFL...

Good bet the Simpson pick was all about Mike Brown choosing the least expensive WR that could be had at that point. One would think it shouldn't be too hard to come to terms with a 5th round WR drafted in the 2nd round, but they'll still manage to screw it up.

I guess only time will tell. Regardless, I think Laws would've been a solid pick in the 2nd instead of Simpson, if Simpson was truly the 1 WR they were after.

No doubt...
