Tuition at St. X is currently $9,225 a year. Let's say a few wealthy alums get together and decide that they want to give at a level that would completely transform St. X. Let's say they get together and pool $260 million together for an endowment to be used only for financial aid, essentially creating a situation in which St. X no longer has to charge tuition to any student. Effectively, any student that wishes to attend St. X and is accepted into the school could go there for free.

Would this change the dynamics of anything? If so, how? If not, why not?

I think it would be great if a young man wanted to go there and couldn't, but with your question he now gets to go thats a plus. We are still going to Male/Manual. And money isn't an issue in that choice. Now who is next to comment?

The families of each student would love it. Credit cards would be paid off, buying a new car would be possible, instead of a used car and/or taking a vacation during spring break. Then on the other side people who like to talk about sports would say, look at all the 6 footers who can run a 4.4 and bench 350. Look at all those pitchers who can throw in the 90's. Where did they all come from, Indiana? Free tuition would be nice.........

I think it would be the on ramp to independent status for St. X. NOBODY would want to play them because they would not be playing on a level playing field. Perception is reality and even if X were being totally honest and forthright, they would end up with more athletes and more of the best athletes and even Big Brother T would not play them.

Bottom line they could not get a schedule and would have to leave the KHSAA to find teams to play.

With a $260 million endowment, they could afford to charter a few planes and play a national schedule against the best of the best, and probably get paid to appear--The rich would get richer!!

Exactly, but that shows the attitude of the privates in general......to heck with everyone else, we will do what we want without thought of the outcome or effects on anyone else.

BUT playing that national schedule would end when the season ended no playoffs and no State Championships......VERY Hollow.

But to think of all the exposure a kid would get playing a national schedule I would forgo any state title for my kid to have a chance to play a national schedule and have the opportunity to open many more doors than he could playing local schools and local talent. From there you have to go to combines and send out letters and film to be seen. FREE Exposure would be awesome trust me after all we have spent on my son to travel the country just to get a sniff of a major college so far is crazy.

I am going to leave with a quote from someone that told me "You are going to pay for your son's college one way or another. If you pay for it now so he gets a scholarship you get to go and see places you may never see again!"

I took that advice I am paying for college now and traveling rather than pay for it later and sit at home.

And some six or so public schools would beat their chests and proclaim themselves "State Champions" knowing they weren't the best in even their own class, much less the state--Also quite hollow!!

I don't think the kids would care. They would still proudly wear their state championship tshirts and jackets and rings and have their 6 hour banquets.

And never give X a single thought.

The kids I know would--They always wanted to be THE best, not some paper champion!!

You are cracking me up.:lol::lol:

I guess you would then call out Highlands that all of their championships are paper championships since they didn't beat T nor X for those titles.

How about it Highlands fans, do you feel your championships are "very hollow?"

Or Beechwood, or NCC or CovCath. You guys beat your chests but in reality feel your championships are hollow?

Those guys seem to be pretty happy with the success they have had.

How about the NKU women's basketball championship? Is it hollow ladies and fans because you didn't beat UT for the title????

No, I bet they feel they worked hard and won their championships and are proud of it.

I know the young lady at our school who won a Cross Country state championship in her class feels she won a state championship and is proud of it. So are her parents. So, is her school. So, is her community.

But I guess you would try and convince her that somehow she is less than a state championship because she didn't compete against your favorite girls private school.

As I said, you are cracking me up.:lol::lol:

Free - St. X.

Free - Public Schools

What's not equal about that?
