rockmom Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 The University of Louisville has received final approval from the state of Kentucky to move forward with the proposed expansion of Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, athletic director Tom Jurich said today. Papa John's Stadium expansion approved
ram2003 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Cool. We won't likely need it for this coming season but if we can surprise some teams and pick up some more recruits and get our momentum back then it's justified.
gchs_uk9 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Good for UofL. FWIW, this will dwarf the state football finals.
dolamite Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Looks good. I am glad they are keeping the opening on the North endzone, this of course keeping the uniquness of PJ's stadium all the while still adding to it. Good news to the U of L community, should be a top 20 stadium when it is all said and done. One more thing, kind of reminds me of what VT did with Lane Stadium a few years back when they renovated it. Very similar IMO.
EAGLES91 Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Bad thing is this is not for the common fan, this is for the big money suites.
All Tell Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 The reality of college football in 2008 is that the "average" fan has to make a huge sacrifice in order to purchase tickets. I get 1 football ticket every year, this year it is going to cost me $306.00. I'm lucky, since I am a lettermen I don't have to make a "donation" in order to get the privilege of buying a football ticket.
swamprat Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Is the seating, current and future, beach seating or individual seats?
02Ram54 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Bad thing is this is not for the common fan, this is for the big money suites. They aren't adding 20,000 luxury suite seats. This addition is good for all levels.
rockmom Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 Is the seating, current and future, beach seating or individual seats? Current seating is chair-back seats. I believe the plan also is for furture chair-back seating.
RockPride Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Every seat in this stadium will always be chair back. That singles it out.
bugatti Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Every seat in this stadium will always be chair back. That singles it out. From what?
RockPride Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 From a lot of other stadiums around the country that still mainly use bleacher seating.
EAGLES91 Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 They aren't adding 20,000 luxury suite seats. This addition is good for all levels. Have you looked at the plan, this is for teh suites like I said not for the common fan. FACT, 20,000 fans is nothing compared to the revnue that the suites will bring each year.
gchs_uk9 Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 From a lot of other stadiums around the country that still mainly use bleacher seating. I wish Commonwealth was chair-back. UEFA (European Soccer officials) made chair-backs required about a decade ago for safety reasons, along with a way to cull violence. I would LOVE for college stadiums/arenas to do the same thing - although the prices would rise!
