A Hamas problem for Obama?

Featured Replies

During an interview on WABC radio Sunday, top Hamas political adviser Ahmed Yousef said the terrorist group supports Obama’s foreign policy vision.

“We don’t mind–actually we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle, and he has a vision to change America to make it in a position to lead the world community but not with domination and arrogance,” Yousef said in response to a question about the group’s willingness to meet with either of the Democratic presidential candidates...........

Obama's first response to this news was to say he was flattered that they compared him to JFK, no mention of the terrorist activities at all, just that he was flattered. He did not back off of Hamas any until he met with Jewish leaders later on.

What does Hamas supporting Obama mean?

Does America want a President that Hamas would vote for?

Oh for the love of God! Here we go again.

I don't want anyone Hamas wants. They obviously know what most of us know, that Obama winning will mean a weakened US military presence in Iraq, less support for Israel, and an easier America to attack.

Oh dear Lord!

I hope you had milk with your big bowl of talking points.

How do you know that for sure? Really?

I mean how do we know with any certainty how any candidate will do once in the office?

For example, Kennedy was seen as weak on Communism and would not stand firm vs the Soviets. That's what Nixon's people hammered him on.

When he became President he overcame the Bay of Pigs fiasco (and more accusations of weak on communists) to then stand and not blink in the Cuban Missle Crisis.

It's amazing how so many people are like little Nostradamus' with their predictions of how this person will or will not stand as President.

I'd rather consider myself an informed woman rather than a little Nostradamus:D

Sometimes we just have to consider them all and then, for me, pick the worse of the three evils. I don't think I have to state my thoughts on who I want to win again because I've been quite free with them before.

I had lunch at a little place in Southern Indiana yesterday and I had the most interesting conversation with a little woman who had to be in her 80's. We sometimes think that just because they are "on in years" they can't think clearly anymore. Well not this little lady. She had a take on the three left and I just wish there had been some people there to listen to her take on the situation. Oh dear, if I could only elect this little woman I think that the world would finally be right back where it needs to be.

I don't want anybody to by my president that Hamas predicts will be helpful to their cause.

The Cuban Missile crisis was a loss by the US that was spun by Democrats as a win. Kennedy agreed to Khrushchev's offer to withdraw the Soviet's missiles from Cuba in exchange for the US withdrawing its nuclear missiles from Turkey. A far different picture was painted of the crisis by the American media and the Democrats picked up 12 seats in Congress when elections were held a couple of weeks later.

The Bay of Pigs was Eisenhower's project that was poorly executed by the Kennedy administration. Che Gevara sent a short thank you note to the Kennedy administration that read: "Thanks for Playa Girón. Before the invasion, the revolution was weak. Now it's stronger than ever." If Kennedy was tough on communism, let's all hope that if elected, Obama will be ten times tougher on terrorism.

Hamas and other terrorist organizations will be pulling for the candidate that they know will be more sympathetic to their cause. Obama has had no qualms associating with terrorists in the past, he has listened to Rev. Wright's anti-semitic rants for two decades, and he has refused to condemn Jimmy Carter's freelance negotiations with Hamas. From Hamas' persepective, what's not to like?

You summarize the "back room deal" that prevented nuclear war.

However try listening to the White House tapes and see how close we were to attacking Soviet ships and you will see a Kennedy that was not sheepish or standing down.

He made a PR stand at Berlin in front of the Communists and he sent more advisors to Vietnam but sought to reign in the dictatorship there.

If you want to compare projections, Nixon was supposed to be the one who stands against communism. Yet he opened up China and negotiated defeat in Vietnam.

Again, I ask "How do you know what a President will be until he or she is in the office?" We can guess and make educated assumptions but certainty is not likely.

Using your logic, we could just use the scissors, paper, and rock method to choose our president.

I agree that we cannot be certain that a candidate's past performance will accurately predict his or her future performance. However, electing a man like Obama, who has knowingly associated with confessed terrorists and anti-Semites like Rev. Wright, is inviting disaster.

It is hard to imagine that a man who is afraid to appear on Fox News and whines about tough questions from ABC's George Stephanopoulos and Charles Gibson has what it takes to deal effectively with Al Qaeda and Iran.

As for Nixon, he will get no defense from me. I am not one of those people who believe that Nixon was a good president that just got tripped up by the Watergate scandal. Nixon was bad on domestic issues and foreign policy alike. His "peace with honor" approach to ending the Vietnam War has a hoax. There was no honor in the way that Nixon and Kissinger ended the war.

Again, I ask "How do you know what a President will be until he or she is in the office?" We can guess and make educated assumptions but certainty is not likely.
The problem I see with Barack Hussein Obama is that of the three candidates left, he's the one we really know nothing about. That alone scares me enough.

And it seems to me that he is the one that is untouchable. It doesn't seem to matter what he or his wife says, you can't say a whole lot about them. Now on the other hand you let McCain or Clinton sneeze in the wrong direction and all heck breaks out.

Untouchable? Are you kidding me? He's been accused of being a Muslim, a terrorist, a Muslim terrorist, a supporter of Hamas, etc. How is he untouchable?

:thumb: Obama has enjoyed an easy ride from the media on his way to the Democratic nomination. On the few occasions that he has faced tough questions from the media, he has been quick to play the victim .card instead of responding to legitimate questions forthrightly.

Hamas is not the only terrorist organization that is hoping for change that will bring an inexperienced liberal like Senator Barack Hussein Obama to the White House.

FARC apparently supports Obama but has not formally endorsed him...yet.

Obama And FARC

Terrorism: The March 1 death strike by the Colombian army against FARC warlord Raul Reyes broke open a trove of contacts in his computer. So why did the name of Barack Obama turn up there?
