April 24, 200818 yr Maybe not blamed him for the overall record, but you can't tell me Chad didn't go from being the hero around here and Cincy's posterboy to a scapegoat when things didn't go well. The fact of the matter is Chad played great last season. He had a much better year than Carson, but everyone loves him. People need someone to blame it on, so all of a sudden Chad "being Chad" was a distraction. This will actually sound like I am defending Chad, but the only thing he did was get the ONE penalty for getting behind the camera. The media made a big deal out of the argument on the sidelines, but that happens to EVERY team, even the Colts and the Patriots. No, he was not the scapegoat for 9 losses; the poor OL play which led to a bad running game, suspect passing game, inability in the Red Zone, poor D- line play, and terrible LB play was what caused their 9 losses. Chad was just a part of the problem; when a player singles himself out, as Chad has always done, when he screws up he has to expect the negative attention for the dropped balls and such. He can't have it both ways- all the fun and no criticism.

Chad's true colors are really showing through recently. The guy is loaded with talent, but there are a lot of talented guys not in the NFL. Chad seems to be trying to add his name to that list.

What more can they do than spend up to the cap and draft NFL ready players, which has been documented by the local media that they do. The criticism about them being cheap and not scouting well are stale and untrue. They certainly have other faults.

The offense will be more efficient because of the running game, so the receivers will put up fewer numbers, even if Chad and TJ both dress. I'll take efficiency and wins over TD receptions and receiving yards; they set a team record this season and only won 7 games.

April 24, 200818 yr The only people who went back on him last year were the media... The Cincinnati fans were still behind him until he pulled this crap... Even though he quit on plays, took 15 yard penalties, and was a baby all last year, most fans stayed behind him until he showed his true colors. Its all about him, and he doesn't care how unintelligent or selfish he looks. I can't wait for him to crawl back and beg for forgiveness... I guess we know different fans.

Last year was a bad communications year b/w Carson and the WR's, I think they'll get that worked out in training camp, so I think the offense will run more cohesively... Not to mention, I think they'll have a healthy O-Line this year... Ben Roethlisberger was sacked like 30 more times than he was. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning were both sacked more than him. He led the NFL in interceptions, but none of it is his fault. It was bad communications, bad offensive line, bad running game, and Chad.

I wouldn't look for him to get through the season. Levi is average at best (actually approaching bust status considering his draft position), and Ghiachiac is not really very good. I like Whit. I don't like Williams. Running back by commitee only works when you have good backs. The Bengals don't.

Mike Brown hasn't a clue as to how to field a consistently winning team. That's why they have one winning season in the last 17 seasons.
April 24, 200818 yr Chad's all that. I really enjoyed how he grew alligator arms for about four games last year after he got blasted by the Browns. I just have a problem with someone who puts himself above team which he has done just about since he got to Cinci. I'm not a Bengals fan and have never been a Chad fan. In my eyes he's an immature punk and always will be. Of course this is coming from an oldschooler who thinks you should let your play do your talking.

The O-Line didn't get any push up front last year, so there was no running game what so-ever.... No one said it wasn't his fault, you're the only one whose brought that up. Everyone knows Carson had a bad year last year, and everyone said it too... His feelings just didn't get hurt, and he didn't go sit in a corner, suck his thumb, and cry...He took responsibility. Like a man, not what CJ is...

Running back by commitee only works when you have good backs. The Bengals don't. Willie was healthy at the end of the year, played well, and not coincidentally-they ran the ball well. Levi has been a Pro Bowl alternate for 2-3 straight years, so incorrect there by a long shot; his problem has been health as well, and this will be the first time in two years he comes in completelty healthy. Ghiaciac is fine physically and another year in the system will make him better mentally. Whit is very good and Stacy will start at right guard assuming all are healthy, which instantly makes them more athletic and just as physical. Koostria, Livings, Santucci are all capable backups as is Williams if he is not a cap casualty. Rudi was fine last year before the injury; Watson proved he can go if called upon; Dorsey did well as a change of pace; that is assuming they don't add anyone in the draft and Perry doesn't make it back.
April 25, 200818 yr I guarantee you this Bengals team doesn't win 7 or 8 games if Chad doesn't play. They'll be lucky to get to 5 wins this season. If they only win 5 games; it will NOT be because Chad didn't play. It will be because they were not healthy at the OL, RB, DL, or LB. The only player that would make that much difference is Carson.
