If Chad decides not to show...

Featured Replies

Who said injuries didn't play a part in it? Mr. Reality said that's the only reason they were bad last year, and that simply isn't true.

They'll only win 4 games this year, because they aren't near as talented as they were last year when they only won 4 games. No Henry, no CJ, no Madieu, no Landon, no Justin Smith. Those guys were some of their best players.

I'll swap Odom for Smith... I think White and Ndukwe will be just fine at safties... Landon was out for a significant portion of last year anyways. WR's are replaceable...

I've been a Pats fan since the Drew Bledsoe days, so I don't know where you're getting that....

More than the Bengals? I thought you were one of the biggest Bengals fans on here a couple years back...

On the first part, I do believe Chad will not wear a Bengals uniform ever again.

As to competing in the AFC North, I don't see how they will with no running game, and no WRs but maybe you don't need those things to win in the NFL anymore...

Assuming they don't trade him, they'll still have one of the most formidable WR duos in the league with Chad and TJ...

As for the running game, please re-read my post and take specific note of where I stated "If they stay healthy..."...because, if they stay healthy...that means the O-line and their running backs will be healthy, and if that's the case, they will have a solid running game, if not more.

Do you really believe Chad Johnson will sit out if he's still a Bengal? There is no way that happens. He'll be there or the Bengals will get something via trade...

Henry was never dependable...and the other guys can be replaced. If they stay healthy, they have enough talent to compete in the AFC North.

Chad said on his morning sportscenter spot, that he definately would not play and might call up his buddy Clooney and maybe make a movie or something.

I disagree on both. Whether he is traded or not, I don't see Chad playing for the Bengals ever again. As far as the running game goes, I don't care how healthy they are, with the running core the Bengals have, they will not be solid on the ground. There is not enough talent.

I've always been a big Bengals fan, they're the hometown team, I have no choice. My favorite sports teams, however, for as long as I can remember have always been the ones located in Boston.

Agree to disagree then...I believe the Bengals have a very good offensive line when they're healthy. They don't have any elite running backs, but they have some guys who can churn out yards consistently when the o-line is healthy and playing well. The offensive line is what drives Cincy's ground game...it wasn't healthy last year, thus the running game was anemic.

As for Chad not playing, I'll believe it when I see it. This won't be the first time an athlete says he isn't going to play for a team and then suits up when the time comes...

I will say this though...if the Bengals trade Chad for draft picks (to the Redskins like they should), then it certainly changes things. It would probably decrease their potential for this season (unless they got lucky and landed some instant impact rookies), but it would certainly put them in position to re-build the roster and be better down the road.

When you say Landon, are you refering to Landon Johnson? The LB who started all 16 games and led the team in tackles last year?

WR's like Chad Johnson are not easily replaced, IMO. But, I expect him to be playing in Cincy this year if he doesn't get traded first.

Seriously? Wow. I'm completely wrong then. For some reason, I had it in my head he was hurt... My bad.

Still think Landon, while a solid player, won't be too big of a loss...

Depends on who they get to replace him. So far, it's looking like a fairly big loss.

Yeah he started all 16 games, and led the team in tackles. He was also a key special teams contributor, and an all around good person. I think he is a big loss for the Bengals. They must have thought so also as they matched Carolina's offer.

If Odell pans out and comes back to how he was, and the Bengals get Rivers, or Ellis, I think that makes the defense better than if they had Landon.

I'd like those guys AND Landon. He was a favorite of mine. Always worked his tail off, kept his mouth shut and did whatever was asked to help the team.
