Losing something like 22 seniors has got to hurt this team. They went 2-8 last year but had so much talent on there team. They do return a few good linemen and a couple of there many running backs from last year.

With only 35 players coming out for spring training it looks like it will be a long year for cardinal fans again in 2008-2009. The only solution to the decline in interest is coaching changes IMHO.I hope the AD gets control of this slide before too long so the Cards come back to championship form.

35 players! WOW! Other than the seniors leaving what happened to the rest of the team? Did they just quit rather then put in the hard work.

I also agree a coaching change is needed. I have talked to players and fans and both think coaching could be better. I remember the Henry Clay playoff game, the fans were just giving it to coach Columbia.

You cannot expect teenagers to sacrifice for a coach who cannot win! In this day and age of multiple sports there are too many options for kids to be dedicated to a losing cause.

GRC has greatly underachieved in the past. I'm not one to call out a time for coaching changes, but you guys may be on to something. That county has talent...it has just hasn't produced in the last few years. Pretty bad that we are saying this after their nice playoff run a couple of years ago, but it just seems to be a lot of the same 'ol same 'ol coming out of Winchester.

Who are GRC'S main players returning? Also how many starting linemen do they return and what positions do they play?

I really doubt there will be a coaching change Columbia has been there for too long and has to much respect from the school and the a majority of the community. I also don't believe that he needs to be replaced but he does need to bring in new help. I think they brought in a new defensive backs coach last year, however I don't know his status as of now or if he even made any improvements last year but that has definitely been an area that needs improvement for quite sometime. I think the next step might be to bring in an offensive coordinator, I'm pretty sure Columbia is handling these duties at the moment but in order to be competitive in todays game I really think you have to have two people working on the teams offensive scheme. And the most important thing is they have to get the players believing in the program and 35 players reporting to spring practice isn't a very good sign of faith.

Last season was a disappointment. I believe in Coach Columbia and I also believe with the right QB things can turn around this year. We have had a new QB it seems every year. Also agree with varsity card that we need at least two people working with the offensive end. Looking forward to this season. Go Cards.:thumb:

Who will be taking Dougie Mason's place at QB?

They had a decent QB who was a freshman last year but wasn't played even in freshman games. Last I heard he had gone to a private school. Seems like too much politics and nepotism involved in deciding who plays and how much.

Not sure...guess we will just have to wait and see.

Was the freshman qb the Barnes kid? I saw him play for Clark Middle his 8th grade year, and he was just a real tough guy kind of kid.

Or was it Andrew Dini?

Or was it Andrew Dini?

Was it Colton Lewis, I know he was on the roster as a QB and is now going to a smaller private school in Winchester.
