April 19, 200818 yr Like I was afraid of and still hope that it changes, same pre season promises and the same ol' results, this team can do NOTHING in the clutch. I am tired of the "we are improved" and "are getting the people in place" crap from this management - I want some results, not really expecting a pennant , just marked improvement and some sign of hope. Once again I have not. Someone should really inform them that base hits with r.i.s.p. are legal. :irked: Then in the last inning, one swings at ball four in the dirt and the other looks at strike three down the middle of the plate...........pathetic. Looks like we are going to have to pull out the "we are out of it early" material again this season on this thread . At least we are used to it and are very good at it.
April 19, 200818 yr Seriously, what is Bako looking for. You have to love the last two batters. Valentin swings at ball four in the dirt, and Bako takes strike 3 right down the middle. The season is 17 games old, and I'm already tired of watching this team. :thumb: My thoughts exactly.
April 19, 200818 yr Cubs manager Lou Piniella, who managed at Cincinnati in the early ’90s, didn’t agree with Reds broadcaster Marty Brennaman, who said Cubs fans were “obnoxious” for, among other things, littering the field with batting-practice baseballs after Adam Dunn homered at Wrigley earlier in the week. “I don’t think our fans are obnoxious. I think they get into the ballgame,” Piniella said. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap;_ylt=Ak6PxU7MUhGr8uS43EcNXG.pu7YF?gid=280418116 Yep, that's all, we just REALLY, REALLY get into the game.
April 19, 200818 yr What moves would you make at this time to hopefully get things going in a positive direction? Play general manager for a while; you couldn't do worse.
April 19, 200818 yr What moves would you make at this time to hopefully get things going in a positive direction? Play general manager for a while; you couldn't do worse. They are going to try Belisle, I figure they give him a few starts and if he doesn't do anything, they will then try Bailey. You figure Fogg goes into the pen for long relief. Bray comes up, Coffey goes down. Ross comes up, Valentin goes on the DL. Gonzalez comes back, you send Castro down. Hairston, is that his name? if he gets called up, then you would have to send Hopper down. It's a complete cluster to say the least. If they are out of it at the trade deadline, you would think that the Reds would be big time sellers. If they are out of it at the trade deadline, Hatteberg and maybe find a team dumb enough to take Freel and Patterson in a trade. If Arroyo still hasn't gotten his crap together, you ship him off too. Fogg is only on a one year deal, ship him as well. With Griffey gone after this year, they have no choice but to keep Dunn. You just hope they don't handcuff themselves into a long term deal with him.
April 19, 200818 yr I wish they would call up Bruce for a jumpstart ( I saw he dinged his shoulder the other day though). I almost drafted Ben Sheets becasue he is a great pitcher but I didn't because he gets hurt every year. Chalk another one up!

You might get your wish, the way 23 is batting, he might dip below 200 before this homestand is over. With that said, I don't know what they do if they bring him up. Patterson is getting paid too much to play in Louisville.
April 19, 200818 yr I disagree. I don't know what they are waiting on with Bruce + Votto. The Reds have a lot of great young talent. I wish they would let it bloom and get out of the Griffey/Dunn era!
April 19, 200818 yr Suppan has not had much success at Cincinnati, though, going 1-1 with a 7.49 ERA in six career starts at Great American Ball Park. The Reds counter with rookie Johnny Cueto (1-1, 3.72), who looks to bounce back from his first career loss when he takes the ball Saturday. After allowing three runs, six hits, striking out 18 and walking none in 13 1-3 innings over his first two starts, Cueto gave up five runs, five hits and struck out six in six innings of a 9-1 loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday. He also issued his first walk of the season. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview?gid=280419117 And for those that didn't hear Marty's comments about Chicago fans or want to relive the magic, click here. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080417-marty-brennaman-chicago-cubs-reds,1,6962881.mp3file
April 19, 200818 yr There is no need for Bruce right now. Not until they get rid of Griffey and/ or Dunn.
April 19, 200818 yr Not until they get rid of Griffey and/ or Dunn. In a meaningless season like this looks to be why not bring Bruce up at some point even with Griff and Dunn still here? Bruce needs to get some type of experience at this level before next season.
April 19, 200818 yr In a meaningless season like this looks to be why not bring Bruce up at some point even with Griff and Dunn still here? Bruce needs to get some type of experience at this level before next season. They actually think they can win. They have dubbed Bruce as a corner outfielder, hence no room at the Inn. Not saying I agree with it, but I believe that is their philosophy right now.
