Reds will be 5 games out of 1st and tied for last place after tonight.

 

Yes, it's April, but Captain Obvious says that's bad.

I was honestly optimistic about the Reds this season after seeing the progression some of the players made, the offseason signings, and the youth movement but now I am left to wonder if I will ever see a winning Reds team.

This is painful to watch.

Even Dusty Rhodes couldn't whip this ragtag ,good-for-nothing Reds team into shape.

Dunn hits one out on the street. Cubs fans take it upon themselves to throw about 20 balls on to the field.

 

Marty proceeds to go on to say something to the effect of:

 

"This is the reason why people root against the Cubs, because of stuff like this. I can't speak for Yankees or Red Sox because we don't see them enough. But Cubs fans and those that follow this team are the worst in baseball."

Classy comment from the man who encouraged people to throw stuff on the field when Dave Pallone ejected Pete Rose at Riverfront Stadium. He shouldn't be criticizing anyone for throwing things on the field. Of course, his comments come across as bitter as the Reds get stomped for a second straight game. Classic Marty.

I heard somebody else talking about how bad the Cubs fans have gotten the other day on T.V.

It's still APRIL! I'm not about to fold the tent yet! I think we have 3 really good starters + one decent one. Right now our #5 guy is awful. There are a lot of teams in that shape. I'd bring Bruce up and find a way to make it work! I think the Reds are moving in the right direction. I would be much happier if Dunn+ Griffey were gone, Voto was starting full time + Bruce was up.

I don't think they've gone over the edge. It may be in sight for some, but it's more impatience than anything. For years, the fan base was apathetic. They showed up for the game, to drink beer, and have a good time. Most of the time, they couldn't tell you the score on their way out of the park. Now, they go to the game, drink beer, and expect to win. That's the difference. People call it "going over the edge" but it's the difference in expecting to see a winner and not caring either way. Kind of what we've seen from Bengal fans the past two years.

You are assuming that Volquez and Cueto are going to be above average pitchers all year with their lack of experience. They've both looked good but they are playing in a bandbox of a park and when the weather gets warmer and some of those routine flies turn into homers it could get rough. GT and others have downplayed that effect but Cueto in spite of keeping the ball down has already allowed 4 homers in 19+ innings pitched. I don't think you can pencil them in for 35+ wins combined just yet. You could end up with one really good pitcher, 3 .500 pitchers and a void in the 5th spot.

Nothing like Bengals fans. We know we are going to lose but we still go. It's common for football games to have fans like that because of tailgating but its like that at every single Cubs games. Something isn't right.

Just for fun I went back and looked at a few of the past threads about the signing of Josh Fogg. Wow. There were some people that somehow deluded themselves into thinking this guy was going to be a huge asset to this staff. He's basically the second coming of Eric Milton.

I saw them the last two years when people were picking 12-4 and 13-3, and it was laughable. Much like Cubs fans who predicted a World Series title.
