Middlesboro would be my favorite in the 13th, followed by Barbourville, Pineville and Lynn Camp. Williamsburg should be competitive and you never know about Oneida and Red Bird.

Corbin has close to 750 kids in the high school this year, which I'm sure puts them well over the limit. Unless something unexpected occurs, Corbin will not qualify for the All A again due to the growth within the system.

Just like any other tourney, the draw will be very important!

I think you might underestimate the impact that the streak will have on next years team. No team wants to be the one that ends the streak. I think those young jumpers will be plenty strong enough to make it back to Richmond, and once you get there who, knows.

 

 

I could see them winning the 12th again. After all their only competition will be Danville, Burgin and Monticello. Those 3 teams were really bad this season and could have been beaten by a lot of JV teams. However, I don't see any way that Somerset is any threat to do anything in Richmond.

At the risk of facing the wrath of Bubba, isn't Lynn Camp a tad inconsistent, too?

 

 

No wrath from me, Bubba only tries to call it like he sees it. I know I hit a nerve on Lynn Camp, but someone had to bring it to your attention, the Wildcats are no longer a doormat and any team that plays them better be prepared to battle to the finish or they will be taking a big L home with them after the game. Middlesboro should be the favorite, then Lynn Camp followed by Barbourville and Wburg....All A got alot weaker with Cumberland and Evarts no longer in the picture and Harlan way down as well.

Corbin is an interesting town though. Technically "Corbin" is in three different counties(Whitley, Knox, Laurel) I believe. It is a big town for EKY and is really the closest thing for a lot of people because it is in the less rural parts. Not to mention they probably have the best sports program of the surrounding schools draws some in as well. It's a weird case.

The favorite? Maybe.

 

"Hands down" the favorite? No way, especially if Hazard has everyone back. Shelby Valley returns plenty, too, as does Bardstown.

 

Rumor has it that Breathitt Co. has made and offer to Coach whitaker to be the principle next year and also to be and asst. to Bank's. If this is true then no way will Hazard be one of the favorites.

But that is the rumor around Jackson. I coach against the son Whitaker and he is a good player but why take him out of a winning program like Hazard, and know disrespect to Breathitt but put him in a program that has serious problems with the Coach and a team that just 2 years ago was a region contender until most of the players quit or transferd. I just don't see it happening.

Hazard not only has everyone back but they have Eric Back (another ballhandler) also which they need.

Elliott County has to be the favorite. LCA will have a tough squad they loose 8 sr's yet all but one (the center who didnt get to play the whole year) were pretty much guards. They return some good size in a tough region. With a talented guard who has started since soph season.

South Laural seems to hold their own against Corbin in every sport. As far as Whitley Co and Knox Co. is concerned. I would have to agree the above statement.

Anything can happen once the 16 teams hit Richmond, they may get a good draw, and who knows who will upset who. I think you will see a different kind of Jumper Team in 2009. They may not be a real threat in 2009 due to there youth and lack of varsity experience, but you know they do get older.

Think about the difference in the size of the schools though. SL may hold their own, but they should be able to just run away with everything.
