St. Henry, NCC of course are at the top again. Beechwood is right behind. The team that no one has spoke about is Newport. They return the entire squad from last year and have a lot of talent.

 

I look for St. Herny to win this because of experience (Speed, Zumdick, Szwikert). They don't have height but they have 3 very good sophmores to be juniors on there way in Jake Hils, Ryan Anderson, and Ben Bessler.

 

Don't ever count out NCC with Pangallo and Meyer in the backcourt. Very good juniors next year.

I have heard about the big 3 you mentioned, and the sophmores which I believe Bessler saw more varisty action than the other 2 I maybe wrong on that. But I also have heard they have another sophmore can't remember the name who is about 6'2 or so who could see some action this year and plays a very physical game but can shoot from the outside also. Also what about Holy Cross do they have anything coming back? The 9th region all A should be fun to watch this year.

Holy Cross has Giwa, Trimpe, Sullivan(injuried last season) and a few other contributors, but without Sorrell they won't be as much of a threat.

No team in the 9th has really any height, I think that NCC, Beechwood, Newport, Holy Cross or St Henry will be a tough out, but winning looks bleak.

Brossart will be back with 5 of its top 6 from last season.

Can anyone tell me that the Elliott Co coach wants to win the Class A tourney? IMO he does not, just my opinion.

Elliott County has to be the favorite and a serious contender to be playing on Saturday in March at Rupp Arena. Have seen the Faulkner's and Ferg for Derek Smith All-Stars and they are playing great against strong competition around the country. Don't know what Timmy Knipp is doing or where he is playing. I hope somewhere and developing his talent which he certainly has.

 

With the loss of downtown Maynard, depth will be the biggest question and concern. Only Morgan coming off the bench provided any quality time last year. Playing only 6 players would be tough and asking a lot of a talented starting five for 30-35 games next year. Keith Centers also provided a few quality minutes last year and he is gone. Some of the freshman that I saw on the JV are young and small and not ready for varsity level yet or at least the level that the Lions will be asked to play at. Maybe someone will improve 200% and grow 3-4 inches this summer. Certainly need one or two more players to step up and provide a few quality minutes.

 

MS LIBERTY--We will miss Tyler Maynard and his long downtown bombs. If you know of another one send him toward Sandy Hook!!! Also wish Tyler the best in his future endeavors. Nice young man who was a tremendous shooter.

St Henry did lose a lot though, and watching Speed in the regional games I wasn't impressed. That being said, Faust will have his team playing hard defense and they will be a tough out.

Of the sophmores you mentioned that might contribute is there a true take it to the hole type player like Derek Adams was last year? With no height Iam sure Coach Faust will have them playing tough D, but any of them have that physical type body or style to spark them on offense? All said I believe like you said if the kids get with Coach Faust style they should have a very sucessful season in their new district.
