Does Walton have a new coach?

Featured Replies

No doubt WV are getting the best duo available. HC is going to have to scamble to find coaches as good as them. Dick Maile is the name I'm hearing that is going to replace them but you never know. Pat Ryan teaches there but I doubt he leave's NKU men to coach the girls. HC has a great group of girls coming up, I hope the get a coach that coaches a good a Miller and company.

Cory Miller and Dan Trame are confirmed that they are going to Walton Veronana. Congrats to them. HC is losing the best twosome for girls basketball.

Congrats to both then. And also, Congrats to Walton for an A+ job in landing these guys. I can't say enough good things about both of them, they'll do a great job.

If this is true and this is official there have to be a lot of coaches in the 8th region who are not happy about it. Maybe not next year, but for years to come watch out for the Ladycats of Walton-Verona. They have good coaches to go with their good players. Hopefully for years to come. Good luck to all involved and good job to WV in landing this duo.

I am glad that you have found great Coaches..but do not worry Carroll is still very happy with their Coaching team. However, we look forward to great games in the future with WV.

I wish you all luck and patience.

This is a shock to me. Two long time Catholic boys leaving the Catholic school system. WV must be loaded coming up for these two to leave HC unless they gave them million dollar contracts.

I do know one thing, the parents will not rule the game of basketball any more. These two men will not tolerate anything like what has been sd has been going on.

Congrats to WV for getting these two great coaches. One thing is for sure, you will find out just how good your girls are because if they can play, these two will bring it out in them. They better be ready to work and I mean work HARD! Good luck:thumb:

I'm sorry to see my friends leave the 9th, maybe now, the 9th will get to see WV a little more since NKY still recognizes WV in awards given out :ylsuper:

Let's hope that things work out and peace and loyal support will prevail at WV. I have heard a saying that applies to many coaches and many jobs that goes like this: "There are more bad jobs than there are bad coaches."

This response is absolutely meant in no way as a knock on the WV program or its previous coach(es). It just goes to say that whoever the next person who coaches at WV will be given an honest chance and the maximum support required to be as successful as he or she can be. With that said, the ONLY "real expectations" that matter are the ones of the the new coach and the players have together. The coaches "vision" and the players' acceptance of it is all that matters - and not anyone else's.

Parents and fans need to patiently step aside and let good things develop. WV has the ingredients for a successful program, and "too many cooks spoil the soup." So, best of luck to the "cook," and let's hope that the new coach has the right "recipe." Here is one vote for Peace and Loyal Support.:thumb:

Do all these young coaches think they are hired gunslingers or what? Whatever happened to loyalty to a program. Is it an EGO thing or is it a $ issue?

You have got to be kidding me. Loyalty, Loyalty is a two way street and the way things go in the coaching world there are two kinds of coaches, those who have been fired, and those who are going to be. As a coach you would be a fool to pass up an opportunity that you think is better out of loyalty to a school or administration only to be let go sometime in the near future.

These coaches have done what is in their best interest and the best interest of their families. If that makes them a hired gunslinger in your eyes, so be it, but don't bash them for not being "loyal".

Loyalty is a two way street. But what about those kids you leave behind, because you may be leaving for more $ or because of a better program. Sometimes they factor in. I know of several local coaches who could leave for better programs, and don't. Sometimes it would be better money, or better support from parents, but they stay because of loyalty. I don't know these guys who left for WV, so I am not going to say either way why I think they left, but I don't really agree with your view on loyalty. There are a lot of factors, and every situation is different. IMO there should be a lot more loyalty in general from everyones position.....I respect coaches who stay put and finish a job. Nothing wrong with leaving for other positions after you have put in some time. But when it is one year here, three here, two here, and so forth you do have to ask what are they looking for in coaching.....but again, just my opinion.

Yes loyalty is a two way street, but the most successful basketball programs at any level have one thing in common-loyalty. Do you think that the coach at Boone has not been offered a better coaching position at a higher level? Ego plays a huge part in coaching. Great coaches balance both their own egos and the feelings of the players.

Very well said! And I wish WV the best of luck with the two new guys from HC. I hope they stay there a long time and are successful and live up to the expectations that the WV faithful have. Hopefully a year or two from now, the grass isn't greener in another gymnasium!

Loyalty is a big part of building a better program. However, people must do what they feel is best for them and their family. That is the bottom line.

I hate it when kids lose a coach they love/trust, but coaches are people. Adn people need to make choices that are best for their family and hope everyone else can undestand those choices.

Were these new WV coaches hired as teachers also?

Were these new WV coaches hired as teachers also?

Yes

Coaches can't stay somewhere for the kids, there is always a new senior class coming up. It might not make it easy, but a coach has to do what is in their and their families best interest. You leave a Catholic school and go to a public school and your pay dramatically increases, your benifits are better, better insurance, better retirement. I don't know if this is why these guys came, but it hardly makes them hired guns. I hope they don't use WV as a stepping stone to bigger and better schools, but if they do, I am glad to have them while they are here. Go Ladycats.

Good coaches are made by great players. Coaches only know if they are truly good if their system works at one given place for a long period of time. A coach can jump from program to program but how does one know if the coach is good or the players at each program made that coach. Having said that I wish both cm and dt good luck at WV.
