Prayers from Bucks family

 

Its stories like this one that makes me really count my blessings.

Some of you might remember awhile back that I had a fraternity brother that was battling for his life with cancer. He is in his early 30's and has two precious little girls that he has been fighting this disease for. He's been told in the past that he had a few weeks to live but overcame the odds. Our old fraternity was able to help run a marrow drive that went great and he was able to get his whole family to Disney World a few months back. He's been through multiple treatments and experiments but it seems he is starting to lose his will. I got an email today that said he is done with all treatments etc and is going to let it run it's course one way or another. I ask that you all pray for Keith Cochran (former Belfry football player + SAE at Morehead). Please pray for him and his family including his precious little girls+wife.

I knew thats who you were talking about before I opened the thread. My wife just told me of this horrible news last night. I think all of the family has been asked to come to Tennessee to be with them.

 

I feel awful for them and truly wish all who are close to this family can come together for those two little girls and Keith's wife. May God bless, and I'll be praying for them.

In the past 24 hours our fraternity alumn have pulled together and this is what we are planning to try to do. 1. Start a fund for his daughters college education. 2. Try to start up a bone marrow drive each year at Moreheads homecoming in his name. A lifelong friend and fraternity brother is the Athletic Director at Morehead and he is already on board helping us get this set up. At that drive we will take donations for Keith's daughters education fund. 3. Possibly setting up an annual Spring Golf tournament to help raise more money for his daughters education fund. That one isn't set in stone but looks promising. I'm hoping we can also find a way that we can set up online a way to donate via the web to the education fund. For the people that think Fraternity's are all bad I think this shows the other side pretty well. I sent an email at 11:45 last night and this is done already just over 12 hours later.

I'd like to ask if there are any folks close to him in Belfry to shoot me a PM. I would guess that they have to have a lot of medical bills which is tough on a young couple with 2 kids just starting their familiy. I think our fraternity can make a huge splash toward the kids education but I would hope there is some way to coordinate in Belfry to help pay a chunk of their bills. Maybe the churches could coordinate something, the football team etc. I know he loved his Pirates and loves the CATS! I'm hoping if everything gets coordinated then maybe some of the folks he has worked with in Tenn could possibly get spending cash for his wife for whatever she needs (clothes, house payment etc). I truly believe there is strength in numbers and he has touched tons of lives. I think if we stay coordinated and in touch that we can do a lot to put Keith's mind at ease some and hopefully help his family along the way. You Belfry folks let me know what you think.

I just got an update that Keith isn't doing very well at all right now. He has been battled and made it through a lot of things that they didn't know if he would pull through. He seems to be at the lowest point right now though. Please pray for Keith Cochran, his wife and two baby girls.

I think they are OK on hospital bills but we are working on setting up a payment for their two little girls college education if things go bad. I'll keep you updated when that is up and running. If there is anybody in the Belfry family that would like to help get things going on that end for their school then shoot me a message.

Stick1....let PH and I know if any money needs to be donated....a lot of people helped us out with PH's amputation bills...we would have never made it without the extra money...we had very little VA money coming in at that time, I had to stop working for PH and our insurance through the VA, at that time "sucked"....so, it is our time to help....please let us know.

 

Prayers are going out to this family from PH and I as well as my parents and brother from Washington State.....This situation has sadden me more than you will ever know. I do not know him or his family, however, PH and I consider them as part of our friends....

God be with them all.

I just got an email from a friend. He spent father's day with his two little girls at the start of the weekend and slipped into a comma last night I think it was. Please pray for Keith, his wife Sara and their two precious little girls!

I think the arrangments are going to be in Belfry. I'll try to post them for you Belfry folks as soon as I find out.

We are REALLY close to getting funds set up through our fraternity with a bank for his 2 little girls college funds. I'll let you know when we get it done. We are trying to get a paypal link through it and I think our churches might help too.

Thank you all for your prayers. Keith lived by the cross even in the toughest of times. He was a true inspiration to all of us!

It is so hard to lose someone. With our thoughts pouring in they will get through this, and will remember him always as he needs to be.

Prayers for Keith Cochran, his wife, two baby girls and the multitude of his friends. May God be with each of you and strengthen you during this very difficult time.

This brought tears to my eyes as I read through this thread. It breaks my heart. Him and his family are in our prayers.

I wanted to pass along that I was baptised on October 1, 2006 and I was led there in large part by the blessings I received in working with fundraisers, marrow drives, and numerous e-mails for Keith Cochran. I doubt he will ever know the number of lives that he touched without even trying to do so. All he did was proclaim his strong faith time-after-time. Many folks would have cursed God and/or questioned Him as to "why is this happening to me..." Not Keith. He simply stated that he was living out God's will and he knows that God has a better plan in store for him. I am receiving yet another blessing by being able to make this post. I don't know that I have ever seen anyone with the type of faith that Keith has. If I can be half as strong in my service to God as Keith Cochran, I will be proud of myself.

Keith is resting in the arms of the Lord this evening. He passed on this morning at 10:45. He was an amazing father, a wonderful husband, my best friend, and the love of my life. As hard as it was to say goodbye, I know that he is happy, pain free, and cancer free. I know that he will continue to watch over me and the girls until we meet again one sweet day. I can never express my love and appreciation to all of you. Your thoughts, prayers and words of encouragement have kept us going when we sometimes didn't want to go anymore. Arrangements have been made for Keith to be taken back to good ole Belfry, KY. Visitation will be at R.E. Rogers Funeral home on Friday 6-13-08 at 6:00p.m. The funeral will be Saturday 6-14-08 at 1:00 p.m. Keith told me long ago that he wanted donations made to Duke University Bone Marrow Transplant Program or The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation instead of flowers. Even in death his desire to fight cancer continues. To those of you who cannot attend the services in Kentucky there will be a memorial held at Lascassas Church of Christ Lascassas, TN on 6-22-08 at 6:00p.m. Love to all and I will list the instructions for donations below.
