:thumb: 98 years old and still no doubt has forgotten more about basketball than anyone on this board will ever know. Anyone else for that matter, Adolph Rupp or Hank Iba would be the only ones of a very, very few imo that is comparable and they are dead so that leaves Wooden.

 

Can anyone provide a link that John Wooden will be the boys basketball coach at Russell for the 08-09" season?:lol:

 

I 100% agree that Coach Dodd did a fine job with the team that he had at Russell this season, it's always a "what have you done for me lately" scenerio in coaching.

 

While you are right in your observation, things go a little deeper than than at Russell.:thumb:

I don't know if Coach Floyd would want to go anywhere or not. Any coach may make a

decision to leave the place that he is at. That is a given and certainly has happened everywhere at one time or another.

I will say that it would shock me if he would go to GCHS especially due to the administration problems down there, or Russell who now seems to be going along the same lines as GCHS. They (Russell) have some catching up to do though but it looks like that they now have start on it. Is a bad situation when a very few plot against and oust a person that they are said to support :sssh: but it sees that is what is happening here.

Might be a good idea for any coach that goes there to have a "knife proof" vest to wear on their back, skin tougher than leather and another job lined up in a couple of years.

JMO and I won't argue or post anymore about it on this thread.

While I respect your opinion, I have to disagree. The amdinistration did everything they could do to support Dodd. He alienated himself by his actions with his player and parents. Russell supports their coaches well and do not want a revolving door type situation. They'll find the right person. I'm not sure Kidwell is the man, but I'm not convinced that he is not. I do however, have the utmost confidence in Sam Sparks. He'll get it right.

Raceland may not be a dream job but for the most part some things that they have for a coach are the support of the administration, faculty, alumni and the community along with good kids that will work their butts off for a coach

These things combined with the best facility anywhere around this area to work and coach in imo add up to a pretty good job. There may be better coaching jobs around but I can certainly look around and not too far away and see a lot worse places .

 

Raceland is a very nice setup. It maynot be everyones dream job, but to others it may be. To each their own. That's what makes this world so interesting to live in.:ylsuper:

:thumb:I respect your opinions as well and you may have information that backs up what you have said, I am sure that you do. Just is a different source of info bc I have heard almost the exact oppostie as far as support for Dodd with "one" administrator inpaticular.

I agree again, I was just stressing and pointing out some very good points there is with a coaching job at Raceland, like you said - to each his own and imo if everyone agreed on everything this world would be a pretty boring place. :thumb:

I really don't think that there would be a policy in place at any public school that wouldn't allow an employee of that school to apply for a job that is open:confused: To be honest that would be agianst the law as I know it. The Site Based would have to agree to the hire and I don't think that there would be any reason Mr. Sparks couldn't keep his job a AD if the Site Based and Principal wanted it to be so. By the way remember Athletic Directors and Coaches do NOT have to certified teachers, although I'm pretty sure Mr. Sparks is certified:fire:Again good luck in finding a roundball coach Russell.

Your are right, but what is an AD??? If you get right down to it an AD is the Principal's "Designated Representative". AD's are not adminstrors unless part of their job title in EDUCATION makes them that.

Fair enough. The definition of AD isn't one I was familiar with. A definition like that would be subjective to school board interpretation.

 

And yes can both positions be held by the same person? That too, could differ from school to school.
