I thought Eta Rho said in another thread that Rico Johnson was getting looks from Georgetown already, and that Pittman and R. Johnson both impressed the guy in charge of the basketball program down there at UK...

 

Rico Johnson is indeed getting looks from Georgetown (Hoyas). I spoke with Coach Sullivan from Holmes and they are preparing a tape to send to them.

 

As far as Pittman goes, he will be getting D1 looks next year as well. As Henley stated at the press conference after the Paintsville game, "He's 6'5 1/2, can shoot the three, and even caused a 5 second violation on the opposing team's PG...I'm sure we'll be getting calls about him."

 

Gillespie spoke with a few people on press row regarding Pittman and R. Johnson, which is where I got my sources. I have a friend who is a writer down state.

I do have a serious question. I did notice that Pittman came off the bench for all but the championship game. Is he someone who just had his breakout in the state tourney or was he just seen as a spark off the bench for Holmes?

Pittman came off the bench all year and averaged around 10 points. He started in the championship game because MC didn't really have a player that Clark could match up with.

 

Pittman matched up better with the MC's personnel since he's 6'5 and can play as a guard or forward.

Pittman didn't play as much during the regular season as he did in the state tournament. As far as him playing above himself during state, we'll know a little more next year when he's starting.

As far as Pittman I think he played about the same in the post season and regular season. He averaged 10 ppg during the regular season in limited action and averaged 15 a game in the post season playing more minutes. Your call.

Sparks signed with VMI. People dont hear much about him but he gave Dariues Miller all he wanted. Dariues had something like 35 and i believe Sparks had 44 in a game earlier this season.

When Pittman is finished growing he should be around 6'7 or 6'8. His dad is 6'7 and he's already 6'5 1/2 as a soph who is still growing.

 

He needs to get stronger though. If he can add about 10-15 pounds in muscle, he will be a load to handle.

 

Out of the three, Ricardo Johnson will probably be the biggest D1 recruit though. Starting varsity at Taft last year as a freshman really helped in the recruiting process.
