March 11, 200818 yr I have been thinking about the best way to class sports and have a seperation between the public and private schools. We have 6 classes in football (duh, big red truck). Why not break down the other sports into two classes from the six classes we use for football. Have the schools that fall into 1A, 2A and 3A be in a class. And the 4A, 5A and 6A schools be in their own class. Then from that, break down the private schools. The private schools in the 1A, 2A and 3A could have their own class and do the same for the 4A, 5A and 6A. However, individual state titles such as wrestling, track, cross country, swimming, tennis and golf wouldnyt be affected, only the overall team title. For example. Basketball would have 4 state championships. 2 public (1-3A and 4-6A) and 2 private (1-3A and 4-6A). I know it's not perfect, I just thought I'd throw it out there and see what everybody thinks.
March 11, 200818 yr How about we separate the schools that have actually been sanctioned for illegal activitries?
March 11, 200818 yr In your scenario the upper class football playoffs for private schools would last 2 weeks. There would be 4 teams. Yes I'm against it.
March 11, 200818 yr Why not seperate everyone who has ever won a title from everyone who has not? There are some schools no matter how you define the classes (public/private, size, open/closed enrollment, etc) will never win anything. This would just give all those who whine and have never won anything a chance to be a winner (for once). :jump:
March 12, 200818 yr How about we separate the schools that have actually been sanctioned for illegal activitries? How about just separating them from playoff competition for a couple of years. That would be the proper separation.

March 12, 200818 yr Author Agreed, kind of ironic that a fan of Johnson Central started this thread. This has nothing to do with what school I am for.
March 12, 200818 yr This has nothing to do with what school I am for. I guess my problem with you starting this thread is that your school just got sanctioned for doing the same things that your coach complained about after a playoff loss against CovCath. Why do you need to have divide private and public if Johnson Central has the same advantages as private schools?

I can just about guarentee that when the boys sweet sixteen has all of their teams set, you will here alot of people on here saying the same thing. I remember theguru making a post last year about classing basketball.

I remember theguru making a post last year about classing basketball. In short, I agree we should have classified basketball but no where have I ever suggested KY should split the public and private schools in any sport. This is what I said when Matney made the irresponsible comments about CovCath after the loss and it still holds true today. CovCath (and Highlands for example) have generally been doing things right for decades. Johnson Central just got their act together in the last few years. Johnson Central cannot expect to be able to compete on that level yet. Once Johnson Central commits to doing things right for 10 to 20 years they can be every bit as good as those schools and it has nothing to do with who is private and who is public. Furthermore, this is true with most public schools. Look in the mirror, get your act together, support and build your football program for 20 plus years and then everything will fall into place. If you are a public school and you need more than those suggestions just go to our northern neighbor and examine why public schools in Ohio do just fine on the football field. What you shouldn't do if you are a public school is whine and moan, throw stones from your glass house, make excuses, expect overnight results or act entitled in any way. The problems with football in Kentucky is a public school problem because for the most part the public schools in KY largely underachieve. The mirror is a lonely place.

Every time someone wins the title, they would have to move to the other class with all the pvs winners.
