I believe that people need to consider the current situation at GC. I think that the lawsuit that Coach Hicks will have more merit than many think. There is precedence where schools had to put a hiring freeze on positions due to issues such as this. The next few weeks for the Admin's of GC will be interesting and if and when this goes to court some of the issues this county's school has will be aired out in public. I am afraid this could be one of the ugliest (and that saying a lot considering GC’s history) episodes in the soap opera that the Greenup County Schools seem to always be spinning through.

The verdict that will be handed down from the suit, could stipulate that Hicks' be given his job back. So, who ever is hired now, could lose their job, because Hicks could be court ordered back into the position.

What I am trying to say is that if much of the "dirty laundry" is exposed in the GC schools like it very well could. We could see a situation like fellow Eastern KY School System Floyd County where the state will step in take control of all administrative duties. With a new Super coming soon for GC and the GCHS administrators facing possible legal matters, the state may step in and say that's enough, we'll take it from here. In my opinion this might be for the best for everyone included.

That is a possibility as well. I really believe that this law suit could dredge many old demons for the people who are facing it and could finally bring some closure to some old wounds that are plaguing GC.

Don't think so Ducky, This is personal with Coach Hicks he apparently has the goods on some of these people and I would imagine that he is going to do his best to expose said administrators and others along the way. This could be great drama in the court room even though I'm sure the Super will do his best Monty Hall and try to offer Door's numbered to infinity to Coach Hicks.

Let's see at school that never likes their coach and a coach who was not very popular at his previous position. Sounds like a perfect match to me.

I think it was more than a vocal minority. I have nothing personal against Coach Dodd he seems like a nice guy but I have talked to very few that have come to his defense.

 

Either way I think he is setting himself up for misery at Greenup.

Why was this thread started and this topic brought up when Greenup County already has a basketball coach, Jason Smith. He has lead, with dignity, GCHS through a rough couple of years. He's been at GCHS for a long time, he's an alum, and he'll be there for a long time. The team needs stability and he can provide that and the players like him and want to play for him. Another question I have is why Dodd’s name has been brought up? He won 3 games this last season and got beat by GCHS by 15 in the district. A hometown boy is just what the program needs and currently has. End of story.

I created this thread because GC doesnt have a coach. If they did, the job wouldnt be posted. Sorry but Popeye is not getting this job.
