Tubby Bashers

Dead horse. Tubby did great things at UK. I wish we all could move forward and have any Tubby threads be about the success he is having at Minnesota! :thumb:

With Tubby:

- Crawford finishes up a very disappointing career

- Bradley is forever ridiculed as the player we got instead of Chris Lofton

- UK probably beats Gardner Webb and San Diego

- UK is in the NIT

Without Tubby:

- Crawford will be drafted in the NBA

- Bradley becomes the leader of the team, both on and off the court

- UK beats the teams that matter WHEN they matter and finishes 11-2

- UK makes the NCAA tourney and we all feel like they actually have a chance to win a few games

Well said.:thumb:

Thats funny, because I was thinking the same thing. Except the exact opposite. Basically both sides will not just let this go away. If its not a Tubby supporter starting something, then its a Tubby basher starting something.

UK lost their entire front court from last year (Morris, Perry, Thomas).

And the team BCG took over didn't have Patterson on it.

From all indications Tubby had Patterson coming here. Then Billy G did a great job in making sure he still came here after Tubby left.

Also yeah they lost Morris which was the only key lost from the front court. Then we just replaced him with Patterson who has done great. Also now Perry Stevenson (A Tubby recruit) is more agressive this year, and had done better playing on the front court than Woo, Thomas, Perry ever did.

So really we have had a front court this year (before Patterson got hurt) that very well might have been better than last year.

So as I said Billy G took over a team that was a tournament team, and probably should have been even better this year than last. So he did not just take over a terrible team, like a lot of people try to say.

Billy G inherited a team that was a 2nd round NCAA tournament team last year. The whole talk about how Billy G took over a terrible team is just crazy. I mean they lost one good player from last year, and replaced him with Patterson. So Billy G took over a team that should have been good enough to make the tournament to begin with.

......

In all honesty its hard to give any blame or credit to either coach this year. I mean Tubby left a team that was a tournament team. He did not leave the team that started terrible this year. Then Billy G though had to deal with all the injuries which probably played a part earlier. So Billy G did a great job over coming that though, and getting this team back to being a tournament team like they should have been to begin with.

I agree with everything in bold. The bold and underline is the #1 statement of the year.

1. From all indications Patterson didn't sign when Tubby was the coach, he signed after BCG was hired.

2. Woo, Thomas, and Perry accounted for 18% of UK's scoring last year on top of Morris' 22%. Thats 40% of the offense gone. (Throw in Meeks, and you've lost 52%)

3. Stevenson is averaging 5.8 ppg this year. Perry averaged 8.4 last year.

Tubby won the national title, 5 sec championships, 5 conference championships. He averaged over 23 wins a season. Let it go, he can coach, you cant argue with numbers. However in his last years he became complacement (IMO) There was nothing left for him to accomplish in Lexington, therefore he left. Good Luck in Minnesota.

As for UK Gillispie will return UK to prominence, it will take a few years. Hopefully by then we will quit comparing everything he does to The TUB.

Actually, Tubby averaged 26 wins a year. But like alot of people have already said on here, hopefully this is the end of the Tubby threads unless it has to do with Minnesota basketball.

What I have a hard time understanding is Free Throw Shooting. With the same players they went from the bottom of the SEC to the top. Bradley the best in the SEC? Is the rest of the confrence that bad or has UK just learned how to shoot?

Free Throws

This year .738%

2006-07 .703%

2005-06 .676%

2004-05 .663%

3PTs.

This Year .374%

06-07 .355%

05-06 .350%

04-05 .343%

Most of the points made here are nonsense. I would rather have Patterson than Morris in the lineup. Some have said that Perry and Thomas was not here this year, nobody could stand them last year. They wanted them gone. BCG has done a very good job of coaching the SEC part of this season, but to say they would have went to the NIT under OTS is ludicrous they would have been probley a couple of games better in record and off the bubble sooner. This SEC record is down compared to the past few years it is just not as good a league. They went 12-4 but they beat a pretty good Tennessee at Ru pp and a pretty good Vandy team at Rupp. The other teams in the league are not as good. Anyone that says that it is remember that the last two years you have had the National Champion come from this league and I can't say for sure but I am pretty sure that will not be the case this year. Tennessee is not near the team that Florida was. I am not sure this Tennessee team is as good as the one last year. But that IMO. You can't have it both ways, if you do then you show your true colors. OTS either did a good coaching job with Pitno's players and BCG did a good coaching job with Tubby's players or you have to give them all the credit. It is the same situation. I remember in 98 people said that Tubby could not coach and they turned it around in February like this team did. It took them some time to get adjusted to the new system. But in the end he did a very good job. There are certain narrow minded people that will never give credit where credit is due, plain and simple.

my biggest problem with TUbby is the inconsistency. Sure he won 26 games a year, but people fail to mention that he won 40 one year and barely squeaked out 20 the next, and the last two years were just painful. I for one, couldn't be happier that he's gone. Billy G is the man.

Judging by the performance of the Cats under Orlando the past couple years, I'd have to disagree with you there, and you're right. People can't give credit when it's due. The SEC was weak this year, huh.

I gave Clyde credit. He did a very good job of turning the season around. After the Louisville game things looked bleak. But they did a great job winning the SEC.
