March 7, 200818 yr Lets say UK loses to Florida, or has a bad showing in the SEC tournament and doesn't make the Big Dance, which right now is realistic....that would mean they are in the NIT and would most likely host a game (or two?). The problem is, Rupp Arena is booked Wednesday through Saturday (March 19-22) for the Boys Sweet Sixteen, who has first priority of the facilities on those dates. I have heard some rumblings around Lexington that a UK game would then be played at Memorial Coliseum if there was a conflict. My question is, do they hold 1st or 2nd round NIT games on the same days as the 1st and 2nd rounds of the NCAA tournament? Wednesday, March 19 seems to be a day that could conflict with no NCAA tourney games, and Sweet 16 opening day. If so, this could be an issue, if not then it is a non issue. I can't remember and thought this was interesting...
March 7, 200818 yr 1) It's a fact that UK would be playing at Memorial Coliseum for the NIT. 2) Only the UK game would be played there.
March 7, 200818 yr ^So you're on the selection committee? This is an issue.... No reason to take a shot at me for giving my opinion - and also the opinion of the analysts at ESPN, CBS, and Raycom.
March 7, 200818 yr Author  No reason to take a shot at me for giving my opinion - and also the opinion of the analysts at ESPN, CBS, and Raycom. That is why this thread is theoretical, meaning iff the Cats are in the NIT, which could still happen with games to play....
March 7, 200818 yr UK, in the NIT, in Memorial. That would be something interesting to see! But they are in the tournament, barring a total FLOP in the SEC tournament.
March 7, 200818 yr UK is in the NCAA tourney, so this won't even be an issue. Posts like the above make me want them to be out so bad.
March 7, 200818 yr The opening round is played on Tuesday, March 18 or Wednesday, March 19. Rupp would be available on Tuesday night, although that might interfere with some state tournament preparation. The second round can be played any night between Thursday, March 20 and Monday, March 24 (except Sunday). A second round home game would likely then be played at Rupp on Monday night. The third round can be played either Tuesday, March 25 or Wednesday, March 26. After that everything moves to MSG. If Kentucky were in the NIT, I would expect their home schedule to be: Round 1: Tuesday, March 18 Round 2: Monday, March 24 Round 3: Wednesday, March 26 Of course if they were not a home team, it wouldn't matter. http://www.nit.org/sports/m-nit/spec-rel/092407aaa.html
March 7, 200818 yr Cross that bridge when we come to it. I think UK will make the NCAA. I mean they went 9-7 the last two years. Also Michigan football proved you can lose home early to a lowly opponent and still finish strong and get into a good postseason matchup.
March 7, 200818 yr UK is in the NCAA tourney, so this won't even be an issue. Posts like the above make me want them to be out so bad. Why? Because there is a difference between "stating an opinion" and saying "UK IS in" and criticizing the thread in a condescending manner in a thread that has already been established as purely theoretical.
March 7, 200818 yr Because there is a difference between "stating an opinion" and saying "UK IS in" and criticizing the thread in a condescending manner in a thread that has already been established as purely theoretical. It's just humorous and ironic to me, because I've seen many comments of the same nature from RP. I was just wondering why it would bother him to see a UK fan doing the same...:thumb:
