If they can knock down some shots they will be in the game (much the way Gamble kept Owen in the game against Shelby) but I just don't see them winning.

Agreed. They have to make shots. South's problem will be defending.

I think they'll need Shelby to be in foul trouble much the same how Maegley was for SK. They didn't have an answer for him on the low block but he couldn't stay on the court, they may need a similar scenario in order to have a shot a getting a 'W'.

This years team wasn't expected to head down to Rupp, they lost way too many people from last year. The last two years teams could have went and it wouldn't have been a surprise. Had Hester not had his worst shooting game of his career last year they would have won it. The SK teams from late 90's/early 00's would have went to state in the region the way it is now and possibly would have made a trip back then too. Last night's team simply wasn't smart or experienced. There was really only 2 players that had ever seen varsity time and it showed this year. They made many many stupid passes and shot stupid shots. Throw foul trouble on Maegley in and you get a loss. Plus their record was around .500 so I don't understand why people are acting like them losing is such a big deal.

It's March, how are they still inexperienced?

And by way your way of thinking, won't next year be even worse? Nine seniors this year and very few underclassmen played much.

The 8th region doesnt even compare to the 9th or any region in the state. Villa Madonna could have a shot to win the 8th region if they were in it and their a sub-par team. Last year should have been their year. If hurd doesnt have shoulder problems at the end of the year and Hester doesnt have surgery and plays the whole year instead of missing half of it, they win an play scott county in the first round of the sweet 16. But things happen and they lost the championship 2 years in a row and this year in the first round. Dont doubt SK for the coming years because i hear they have an 8th grader that is pretty darn good.
You obviously have very little respect for the 8th Region. And remember, "IF" is a very big word. "IF"a frog had wings, he wouldn't..........oh, nevermind.

Big game experience, plus there were some players receiving a lot of playing time the last few games that hadn't received much the entire year. Also, yes I think next years team will be worse, but in their district and the 8th region they will be far better off than if they were still playing in the 9th.

The ninth region is pretty good but if I am not mistaken how many state titles has this region won?

I know Scott County has two from this region. Anyone know of anymore?

Are you serious? Outside of four teams Holmes, New Cath, Highlands, and Boone the ninth region is not that tough.

Shelby beat Holmes in 79 maybe.

Shelby did not beat Holmes in the 78' state championship game, the refs gave it to them on a terrible missed goaltending call.

Possibly the biggest injustice in the history of the sweet 16.

Do some research becausee first of all you left out Cov Cath. Second of all Boone didn't even make it out of the district, so their has to be at least 1 or 2 more really good teams from the ninth.

Saw it. I was right behind the basket at Freedom Hall when Charlie Hurt stuck his hand thru the net. The ref was standing there looking straight at it.
