Since these two teams haven't faced each other since January 26, 1979 it is hard to judge what will happen and how the game will end up.

However, I will have to say that Augusta wins it, it will be a close one though, only by 7.

Since the last time Augusta won a game at the Region was 1950 and in that year they beat Bracken in the first round of the district to go to the region as runners-up.

Staggs and Gligoravic are very comparable.

 

Blue collar, in-the-trenches kind of guys. Scotts bigs (or big - O'Conner) factors large in this one - Augusta has no one to match up with him.

I'll give the guards edge to Scott, also strength of schedule, and defenisve intensity.

 

Augusta absolutely cannot afford to give up points off of turnovers if they intend to make this one close.

 

This is the game that could characterize the district tournament scenerios to date - the game that makes you scratch your head.

 

While my heart would love to see the Panthers compete and take this one to the wire, my head says the Eagles big.

O'Conner is 6'7"

 

I think the Panthers (Mofford and Staggs) do match up with Gligorevic, but O'Conner could be a problem. JMO

This is a good draw for Augusta, besides PC, ( no disrespect to PC ) that will give them any kinda chance of winning a game in the regions. Both teams know nothing of each other as they have not played each other. At least not since I have been watching Augusta play. Should be a interesting matchup. That being said I will not predict an outcome.

 

You are kidding yourself if you do not think that Coach Carr and his staff knows nothing about Augusta. Don't be surprised when their coaching staff starts calling out the plays that Augusta is attempting to run. I am sure by Thursday night the Augusta staff will also be will aware of what Scott does.

 

Seeing both teams play multiple times I will take Scott by less than 10. Guard play will carry them and the bigs offset each other.

 

Staggs for Augusta will still have a good game. The kid just flat out plays

I don't believe they have, I heard that Montgomery is a big team, but if Scott is able to run against them it will be a lot closer than a lot of people think. Got to take it one game at a time though.
