March 2, 200818 yr All comes down to money, can he make this much doing something else? I can almost guarantee that money is pretty far down the list in his coming back. This isn't a "Where do I sign as a free agent" type of decision, this is a "Do I risk my body by coming back from a broken neck" type of decision. He could live very comfortable working as a college analyst in Georgia or in the ministry if he chooses to. His well being is what is on his mind.
March 2, 200818 yr If there is any decision that is not that simple, it is coming back from a serious injury like this one. I think taking time is exactly what he needs to do. :thumb:
March 2, 200818 yr Odell is cleared to do workouts but hasn't had a final on his reinstatement yet that should come some time before training camp in July. We need him, hands down. He was one of the best rookie linebackers that year, and that year there was some good rookie LBs, Lofa Tatupu comes to mind but I can't think of any others in that class, but I am sure there are more.

Demarcus Ware and Shawn Merriman were also LBs from that class.

Your right we do need Odell and I'm pretty confident that he will be back. I just can't see the NFL holding him out again unless he gets into trouble again.
March 3, 200818 yr Everyone in the entire city will cringe when he makes a tackle until he gets up. If playing makes him happy, then go for it, but I don't know that I would take the risk...
March 3, 200818 yr At this point, he is no more susceptible than any other player. He has stated that if he were, he would not play.
March 4, 200818 yr Yes, I really have to question him coming back and risking another injury. Also, IMHO, he likes the drama surrounding his possible return. This is either a simple yes I am coming back or no I am not coming back and he doesn't need to stretch it out over weeks. So you have doubts about him coming back too, yet say it's a "simple" yes or no question? Tough crowd. This is a life-changing decision. I'll give him all the time he needs.
March 5, 200818 yr At this point, he is no more susceptible than any other player. He has stated that if he were, he would not play. It's gotta be a tough decision. To give up you passion (not just a typical 9 to 5 job) for a "what if" scenario. Or to go through life (especially these next 4 or 5 years, watching games and thinking that you could still contribute. My prayers are with hiim, whatever his decision.
March 5, 200818 yr So you have doubts about him coming back too, yet say it's a "simple" yes or no question? Tough crowd. This is a life-changing decision. I'll give him all the time he needs. Pollack has had 18 months to make a decision so why all the drama now. I am for all the time he needs, I just don't want to hear about it unless there is an actual decision.
March 5, 200818 yr I always had doubts about players who suffer serious injuries such as Pollack has endured and then decide to comeback and play. However, after watching Tedy Bruschi make a comeback changed those doubts. If the Dr's. give them the green light to play and the players and their families agree then I no longer have a problem with them coming back. I do agree that Pollack is enjoying the drama that surrounds his comeback as it does put him back in the media limelight that he has missed for a few years. IMO, most of the players in the league have an ego problem and feed off the media frenzy. I also agree it is a simple yes or no answer that a 20 minute press conference would complete the job.

David Pollack does not fall into the category of someone with an ego problem; he certainly has not lobbied for the attention.

He has had 18 months to think over his decision. Now it is crunch time and a decision should come shortly. I'd agree that there is a reasonable time frame, but I think he's still well within it. I don't need to know anything before the opening day of training camp.
March 7, 200818 yr I hope he plays and plays really well, he was about to have a breakout year before his injury. I can wear my jersey again.
