March 1, 200818 yr I think your only noticing it being stretched out over weeks because this is happening to the Bengals. If this was happening any where else you wouldn't notice it being stretched out over weeks. Actually, I think I am noticing it being stretched out over weeks because it is in fact being stretched out over weeks.
March 1, 200818 yr Actually, I think I am noticing it being stretched out over weeks because it is in fact being stretched out over weeks. I don't understand what the problem is. He gave a date (Feb. 27th I beleive) when he would find out if he would be cleared to play be a medical staff. I think he's just hungry to be back out on the field doing what he loves.
March 1, 200818 yr Actually, I think I am noticing it being stretched out over weeks because it is in fact being stretched out over weeks. How is he stretching it out over weeks when he just found out?? His first appointment scheduled for the 8th of Feb. was postponed... He should take his time with a decision that is going to affect the rest of his life. As far as risking injury, every player that steps on the field is doing that; the doctors have determined he is no more susceptible than any other player to receiving an injury.
March 1, 200818 yr Yes, I really have to question him coming back and risking another injury. Also, IMHO, he likes the drama surrounding his possible return. This is either a simple yes I am coming back or no I am not coming back and he doesn't need to stretch it out over weeks. I agree with the first part, but not the second. While I personally hope he does not come back, the simple fact is that the man is struggling with a major life-changing decision. I have to bet that you would also deliberate at great length if an injury - one from which you're told you are fully recovered - forced you to consider giving up your career and life's dream. Pollack seems like a pretty solid individual to me and I just think the thought of not doing what he had dreamed about for so long is tearing him up.
March 1, 200818 yr I will take one step back and say the media has a part in this too. There has been a lot of talk about Pollack recently with very little to report.
March 2, 200818 yr This is good news for the Bengals and GREAT news for a great person. Hope he makes the decision to make him happy. Is Odell Thurman cleared to play? Odell is cleared to do workouts but hasn't had a final on his reinstatement yet that should come some time before training camp in July.
March 2, 200818 yr I will take one step back and say the media has a part in this too. There has been a lot of talk about Pollack recently with very little to report. I think there is some method behind his madness. If a player does not retire when he is hurt, he keeps getting full paychecks. When a player retires, because of a injury he gets a buyout which is less than full salary. Just something to think about...
March 2, 200818 yr That- I can agree with; (I can't believe you backed down so easily!!!!!) Don't make me come find you. :madman:
March 2, 200818 yr Typical, when somebody loses an argument; he wants to resort to violence..... Getting back to the topic....I think Pollack will play and be a great OLB in the Bengals' new 3-4 scheme; he will have 7-8 sacks while Geathers will have 8-10.
March 2, 200818 yr Getting back to the topic....I think Pollack will play and be a great OLB in the Bengals' new 3-4 scheme; he will have 7-8 sacks while Geathers will have 8-10. He has said several times that if he returns it will be as a DE...
March 2, 200818 yr He has said several times that if he returns it will be as a DE... He has also said he has been lobbying the Bengals to play a 3-4 for years, so that he could play OLB, which is a virtual DE in the 3-4 since they line up on the line of scrimmage. If they stay in a 4-3, you are correct; he will be a DE.
March 2, 200818 yr I think he will be back. He's been working very hard to get in NFL condition and he is medically cleared to play...
March 2, 200818 yr Yes, I really have to question him coming back and risking another injury. Also, IMHO, he likes the drama surrounding his possible return. This is either a simple yes I am coming back or no I am not coming back and he doesn't need to stretch it out over weeks. If there is any decision that is not that simple, it is coming back from a serious injury like this one. I think taking time is exactly what he needs to do.
March 2, 200818 yr He has said several times that if he returns it will be as a DE... I have heard that also. The problem with that statement is that it means he clearly has his injury on his mind (he has said he wants to avoid the end down jarring hits of a linebacker) and, if that is the case, it has to affect the quality of his play.
