February 28, 200818 yr No I am not, and I will bet my BGP membership that PP doesn't have a field day against Duke, he is to narrow, and not nearly tall enough to give them fits. If Duke would double him, maybe, if they played straight up he would. That is where Duke is weakest. Singler is a really nice player but not a bruiser. Duke has some length but not much bulk. Patterson did fairly well straight up against UNC's front line.
February 28, 200818 yr Again.....not pretty....but it's a win!! Teams in the SEC with 10 wins have only failed to get in TWICE since 1980s....I say the Cats are in !! Go Big Blue:dancingpa
February 28, 200818 yr Tale of two halves. UK played excellent defense in the first half then slipped in the second...did not hedge high and hard in second half. Bottom line is that Ole Miss pulverized them on the glass in the second half, particularly on the offensive glass. That is where the game changed. Warren got hot and went over 20+ points, but it took him 21 shots to get there...but Ole Miss claimed 20 offensive rebounds to UK's 2. Unforced turnovers hurt them as well. The game got physical and UK bogged down on offense... Thought that three by Gaskins was going to go. UK is a grinding team...they are not very athletic, they are not very big, and they are not collectively the best shooting team, they have to just grind it out. Ole Miss is a tough machup for them, because they can get streaky from the perimeter and they have two beefy big guys who kill the offensive boards and are tough to root out of position with Curtis and Williams, and they bring in another big in Parnell. In addition, Polynice is a nice lean and long athlete. It is what it is, and it goes into the left hand column. On to Tennessee with something on the line, a shot at the SEC lead.

February 28, 200818 yr I would like a 10 seed, and like an 11 seed better. Anything other than the 8/9 game. Still work to do though to talk about those things. Yep, I agree. They would be in pretty good shape as a 10-12 seed.:thumb:
February 28, 200818 yr I wish UK would have lost!!!!:mad: I'm so frustrated at this Kentucky team... how can you be up by 17 at the half and win by 4... put the game away geez!!!
February 28, 200818 yr On to Tennessee with something on the line, a shot at the SEC lead. That is almost funny and unbelievable even saying.
February 28, 200818 yr No fire power or athleticism on this UK team outside of the top 3 players. It was not much of a suprise seeing this game come down to the final possession, even when UK was up on the Rebels early. While the dominated the first half, they only put up 31 points. Stevenson, although improved, provides no inside presence to help out Patterson on the defensive end rebounding the ball.
February 28, 200818 yr I see what you are saying but I still say it is the NCAA tournament. :thumb: Not a discussion or even close - it is the NCAA (Big Dance) and not the N.I.T. - (Not In Tournament). Of course I would watch a support U.K. should they have to settle for the n.i.t. but in no way does it or will it ever compare. As a U.K. fan to think that imo is just crazy.

I think through the SEC schedule he has done well getting in there and rebounding with Patterson. Last night the two bigs from Ole Miss just shut him out. But looking at the statistics, Stevenson ended up with more boards last night than Patterson.

Stevenson played really well last night(6 blocks), especially in the first half. The officials allowed a lot of shoving under the basket in the second half, which hurt Stevenson's rebounding as he is still not as physical as he needs to be.
February 28, 200818 yr I was really surprised at how early in the game that a lot of the people who sat in my section left. UK was up 8-10 with almost 5:00 left and fans started filing for the exits and then again with about 1:00 to go and UK up 6 with Ole Miss in possession. I guess that is a big lead for this UK team though.

I thought Stevenson had a nice contribution last night, as well. Ole Miss leads the SEC on offensive rebounds and last night they showed why. Stevenson wasn't the only UK player getting shoved around down low last night.

Stevenson wasn't the only UK player getting shoved around down low last night. You are right. The officials were letting the teams get after it inside the paint and UK is still not physical enough on the inside to play that way. Carter got to play for about one defensive possession and Ole Miss just bodied him completely out of the way and stuck in a put back..........then Carter was right back on the bench.
February 28, 200818 yr Scary win, but its a win. BCG has now led the Cats to their best SEC record since 04-05. Good job!
