Southwestern 56 McCreary Co. 55

If it takes the coach to fire up a team at tournament time, that team isnt going to go very far anyway, IMO.

No doubt that Watts is the real deal, is has the ability to play on the perimeter and inside, if you play up on him he will put it on the floor and drive around you, and he is strong enough and athletic enough to play inside and post you up. His weakness is that he plays for Rob Jones, ulitmately it is the coaches responsiblity to prepare his team and although they won twenty+ games they can't get over the hump and win when it counts.

Send him to Southwestern we could use him.:thumb:

I guess you were right seeing the Raiders just beat the Jackets by 5. Maybe LoveThoserHounds wasn't informed on that one.

If your referring to Les saying He guesses MC wasn't to much better than Williamsburg....than he was right! 5 Points is not much better!:rolleyes:

Wow! Congratulations to Coach Schulz, who's always been a crafty one! :thumb:

Rob Jones is an excellent coach and has taken some McCreary teams to the region that shouldn't have made it. How much size did the Raiders have this year? Is that his fault too that his whole team is 6'0 and under? Point is - if the man couldn't coach they would not have won 24 ballgames. He didn't just forget how to coach because it was the first round of the district. Southwestern's players made more plays....end of story.

I agree with imsosilly....if you're gonna blame the guy for losing the game, then blame him for winning 24 too

Tired of hearing his schedule was weak....played the best teams in the 12th region, didn't dodge any of them...the only team to beat Lincoln Co., beat Wayne twice...beat a very good Cumberland team out of the 13th region...they just didn't make the plays when they needed to make them..the coach can't help that

I disagree about strength of schedule. They won 24 games and not even close to being ranked. That shows they played a weak schedule. In order: Lincoln Co., Boyle Co.,Wayne Co. played the toughest out of region schedules. This only helps in postseason.

Holy moly .... what a win for da Warriors. I knew McCreary wasn't much better than Williamsburg.

Yep...Williamsburg had about 24 wins also.

You hit the nail on the head. Coach Jones has the RESPECT of everyone on Southwesterns staff. We Know he can coach with the best. This game wasn't about X's and O's but about Jimmys and Joes. The difference in this game was SW shot a higher percentage than McCreary.

Guys I,m sure the Raiders are sick over the loss but they did loose and a person can get caught in a shoulda, coulda, woulda all day I say go to another thread and talk about the Southwestern vs Wayne Co. game tonight because they are still playing and the Raiders are getting ready for baseball. Good luck to both teams tonight.

You are right they did win 24 games, but all those games won will not get you to the region....

Post season success is what many coaches are judged on, and to be honest his is not that great over the long haul. Some handle one game situations better than others and some handle pressure better than others. Ultimately the coach has to step and take responsibility, shoulda, coulda, woulda is not going to get it done.

You are right ST5, coaches are judged on how their teams play in the postseason. The 12th region has some great coaches and Coach Shultz is one of them. He has his team peeking at the right time.

If schedule strength was that important then how did Southwestern play so well when they basically played the same schedule as McCreary. If you look at the final month of the season you can see that Southwestern was much improved over the team that played in December and that McCreary struggled with some teams they shouldn't have down the stretch. After considering those two factors it still took a nearly perfect game by the Warriors both shooting the ball and defending it to pull off a one point win.

If schedule strength is such a factor then Southwestern has no chance against Wayne County right? Bryan Station, Lex Catholic, St.X (Cincinnati) Corbin. Judging by schedule strength I not sure Southwestern can even get on the scoreboard Saturday night.

You answered your own questions. MC had an experienced team that probably needed challenged a little more out of region. SW had an inexperienced team coming back that played about the same schedule, they have really improved at the end of the season. Wayne has played a harder schedule and it should pay off for them Saturday and next week in the region. I really thought that Wayne had passed MC at the end of the season the way they were playing.

With the first day back at school, the disappointment in everyone is hugely apparent. Teachers and students alike are in total shock. Senior Adam Swiger seems completely lost. It's all that is on his mind. He just sits and stares at a wall or floor, thinking about it. I talked with some of the players today and they said that they tried to call a timeout whenever Swiger was trapped in the corner before he threw the ball away, but it never got to the officials. Swiger said that he continued to tell the players to step it up in the final timeouts and yelled to watch for the lob that ended up being the free layup for the Warriors, but they failed to stop it.

I really feel for the seniors on this team.
