I agree. McCreary really stopped playing good ball after the Lincoln win.. Yeah, they destroyed Whitley and beat Somerset, but they didn't play like they did earlier in the year. I mentioned coaching last season, and I was bashed for saying that the coach can't rebound or shoot for them.

This is true. I'll agree that it is the coaches job to get the players to do what they need to do. But you'd think that with the talent this team has that they could figure this out on their own. Don't get me wrong this group of athletes has nothing to to be ashamed of. These are a great group of fine young men, so keep your head up guys.

Final was 56-55. SW hit a layup after a steal at the buzzer. Great job by the Warriors beating Central on it's own floor. This could be the biggest upset in the state so far. Congrats to those kids from SW.

First of I want to give God the Glory he smiled on Southwestern tonight.

 

The 2nd thing I want to say is thanks to all the fans that believed in us and showed up to support us tonight.

 

The 3rd thing I want to say is I have the utmost RESPECT for Coach Jones, his staff and his team. His teams are always well coached and they always play hard and physical. I don't buy it that SW wanted it more. The Radiers had all the expectations and pressure in the World on their shoulders and SW had nothing to lose and was able to play relaxed. The Phillips kid was a beast, Watts made some unbelievable plays, and Swiggert hit some key clutch shots. And Musgrove hustled his tail off all night as always.

 

Trevor Jones did carry SW at times but TT Wooldridge hit some clutch shots at key moments in this game.

 

I think the difference in this game was 8th Grader Cody Epperson hit 3 big 3's in the 2nd quarter to give SW a halftime lead. But Coach Jones put Musgrove on Cody in the 2nd half and he shut him down.

 

The other difference in the game was Taylor Fothergill hit two big threes in the 2nd half. He was 3 for 20 comming into tonights game. I give Taylor credit for having the courage to take and hit those big shots.

 

Like I said it was in the cards for SW to win tonight and I give God the Glory.

 

Coach I'll have to agree and disagree with you on this. I'll agree that McCreary did have the world on their shoulders. But here is where I'll disagree. McCreary had SW down by six I think in the third quarter. But the boys found it in themselves to light a fire and make a come back to win the game IMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still shocked over this one. This makes two straight years that people don't get to see Watts. I have had many people from this area ask me about him. I always say he is the real deal, and IMHO a D1 prospect.

No doubt that Watts is the real deal, is has the ability to play on the perimeter and inside, if you play up on him he will put it on the floor and drive around you, and he is strong enough and athletic enough to play inside and post you up. His weakness is that he plays for Rob Jones, ulitmately it is the coaches responsiblity to prepare his team and although they won twenty+ games they can't get over the hump and win when it counts.

They couldn't get the ball in Watts' hands enough. He was doubled and tripled team the entire first half. So, Jones put Watts at the one guard to let him have the ball more. Eventually, he went back to the two and was doubled and tripled teamed again.

Southwesterns Trevor Jones shut down Watts. Watts is a good player but Jones who is 6'4 and quick took it to him all night. Great job by the blue and orange.

I watch most of the Raiders , your wrong about Watts beating people off the dribble, that would only his weakness.

I guess you were right seeing the Raiders just beat the Jackets by 5. Maybe LoveThoserHounds wasn't informed on that one.

I really liked this Raiders team, but I think they might play too weak of a regular season schedule. I know they played the best in the 12th, but I think this year's team needed to step out and play some of other good teams across the state. Sometimes coaches get too hung up on regular season wins to keep the natives happy and forget that basketball is a tournament sport ultimately. I am sure it is a sad day for all Raider fans.
