Why Do Liberals Think the Way They Do?

HERE'S THE BOOK THAT EXPLAINS WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS SUSPECTED:

Liberal%20Mind%20Web%20%281%29.jpg

From the Preface:

This book is about human nature and human freedom, and the relationship between them. Its contents are an outgrowth of my life-long interest in how the mind works. That interest, beginning at about age twelve, eventually led me to careers in clinical and forensic psychiatry and to the particular access these disciplines provide to human psychology. Disorders of personality have been a special focus of this interest. First in clinical practice and then in forensic evaluations, I have had the opportunity to study the nature of personality and the factors which affect its development. The practice of forensic psychiatry has permitted an especially close look at the manner in which all mental illnesses, including personality disorders, interact with society’s rules for acceptable conduct. These rules, both civil and criminal, largely define the domains of human freedom and the conditions that ground social order.

Lyle H. Rossiter, Jr, MD received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago and served for two years as a psychiatrist in the United States Army. He is currently in private practice in the Chicago area.

Dr. Rossiter is board certified in both general and forensic psychiatry. For more than forty years he has diagnosed and treated mental disorders, with a special interest in personality pathology and its developmental origins.

He has been retained by numerous public offices, courts and private attorneys as a forensic psychiatrist and has consulted in more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases in both state and federal jurisdictions. Dr. Rossiter has lectured to various groups on subjects ranging from psychotherapy to the prevention of suicide.

I think BF sent a copy to Rockmom.

j/k guys.

I always love it when people on the other side of the aisle try to describe "what liberals believe" ... usually, it's positions that are taken by the extreme left, with the right trying to assign those positions to all liberals.

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and the like have made a pretty good living at it over the years.

You kidding?

Who do you think wrote it?

This guy is a moderate, his motive for the book is not political, he intends to write one about those on the far right.

They have a conscience?

I have not read all of these. So I will read them and give my thoughts then. I think the far left and right are closer to being the same and they ever want to admit they are. I don't know many people that are completley far either way.

I didn't say anything about the author and didn't read the links, although the phrase "political madness" in the title doesn't scream objectivity on his part.

As for Limbaugh, Hannity, et al, my previous post is totally on target.

Gee, there aren't any like them on the Liberal side, huh.

Aside from the book, I have wondered this. I know that a lot of liberals aim to do what is best for the American poor/middle class, but I really think a lot of the methods are so unrealistic and nonsensical that they would hurt Americans rather then help them.

I'm sure I will get blasted for this, but I really don't see in any way how raising taxes helps anyone. And if we were to have socialized health care, I think it would put so much pressure on the economy that other areas would suffer so dramatically that it would wind up decreasing the standard of living that most Americans enjoy today.

Is it safe to say that understanding the thinking of a liberal is like understanding a woman.

And to understand a liberal woman I think is not possible.:sssh:;):flame::D

Sure has hurt Germany's standard of living. Oh and the standard of living in every other major industrialized country other than the USA.
