For those who think the NCAA weighs fan $upport

Featured Replies

If the NCAA is all about the Benjamins

And they want the most bang for their buck,

And they weigh fan $upport on $election day,

Then wouldn't it make sense to assume they would just leave UK out and put them in the NIT?

It would be more likely than putting them in the big dance because of fan following. I don't think it will play a factor in the selection room either way though. In or out will rest simply on the resume...

I understand and agree.

My question is to those who think the NCAA will put UK in the big dance because of fan support. (I changed thread title to better state it)

IF you believe fan support is a factor, then where is UK going to generate the most dollars? (this year)

I fully agree with where you are going with this. If it was strictly on $, there would be 23,000+ at Rupp in the days after Selection Sunday...

And likely more than 1 game and out.

Isn't the selection committee mostly from the various conferences? Are they really gonna be concerned with making the NCAA a few more bucks?

As I have said before, having the SEC commish on the committee will certainly help UK's cause...

I wouldn't want to play this UK team in the first round for nothing. They are definately a tough team and if they do manage to get in, they will surely be an 8-12 seed. I wouldn't want to be a 5 or 6 seed and have to open with UK in the first round.

I really don't think money will factor into the decision.

I've heard that somewhere before... :D

I am not a UK hater, but if $$$ gets UK in, and another, better team is left out, it sacrifices the integrity of the NCAA tournament in my opinion.

I agree. Especially if Meeks is back.

Good teams get left out every season. This one will be no different :thumb:

I would think w/UK's fan base putting them in the NCAA would make the most sense if we were looking at this from a strictly financial standpoint for the NCAA.

Not many teams travel out West like the CATS do.

VERY good points about the NIT and a home game though!

Those words just seem funny together.
